Hello and welcome to the site. I will not hold it against you for being interested in a glock.LOL I'm a 1911 or 2011 kind of guy myself.
Gunsatcost.com have some great prices for guns. Will have to ask my wife about gun ranges in your area. She is from So. CA. so she knows the area you are talking about. I would try the yellowpages for a gun range or gun shops around your area too. Hope this helps you out and again welcome to the site.

Thanks fordvg!
I will always accept any suggestions on good firearms.
I also am impressed with the 1911 but I currently am recovering from radial nerve palsy and have to be very selective. The 1911 is a little big for me. As soon as I get more strength I would like to try it.

btw..Whenever I meet anyone who has served... I make it a point to say Thank you for your service and God Bless you and your family.

It has been a few years, I was 19 in my photo that I have up and that was 24 years ago. Hope you get to feeling better. Understand about nerve palsy I have nerve palsy to my left shoulder. Was injuryed in the Corp and still having to live with the problem.

I have a Glock 19 for carry. If I was you I would definately look at the Glock 17C, which means it has a ported/compensated bbl. It would be much less perceived recoil and bbl jump. Weight difference isn't that significant. But with your wrist, it would certainly be easier on you. Harder to conceal but better shooting.
The loaded Glock17 weighs 2 oz more than the 19. 19 oz vs 21 oz.
Wheras the 1911 loaded weighs in at about 48 ozs.
