I am with you in that I enjoy shooting semi-autos as well. Revolvers are cool and all, but I like the tactical feel of shooting a nice pistol.

I own a revolver and have only used a semi-automatic in the Navy while on Guard Duty. I am looking for a suitable semi-automatic, preferably small enough for concealed carry.

I would say that I prefer the semi auto. It has more bangs than a revolver. Which of course means more time reloading the magazines. Guess it all works out in the end.

The semi due to that you can get them in a compact size, and still shoot good. If you get a revolver, you would almost have to get a stubnose 2" to 3" to be comfortable on you. I don't know about you but most stubnose revolver don't shoot that good, compared to a sub-compact. It all depends what your looking to do with it. but if i lived in alaska i would go with a large bore revolver, due to i wouldn't like to be lunch. but that my 2 cents

I use to own a stubnose 44 mag with a 2 inch barrel and I could shoot a quarter size group with it at 25 yards. I have shot everything from a 2" to a 12" barrel. It does not matter about the size of the barrel when shooting it to be accurate. I'm like the rest of you I do like a revolver but I like the auto because of the number of rounds you can carry.

I like the semi auto also. One thing to consider about a revolver though. If you get one with a concealed hammer, you can fire it from within a pocket or a bag. Something you cant do with any semi auto.

I see your point, but highly doubt that it would get caught. If you were using a double action semi auto (like a XD, since you gasp at glocks) where there is no external hammer I see no problems. I don't think that the slde would get caught... and even if it did, the bullet had already been fired and the casing was being ejected.

Back to the origional question. I think both serve good purposes. I own both, and enjoy shooting both. But if I could only own one handgun, it would have to be automatic.

Im more old school. I Like six shooters. I own a colt single action army. I shoot it for fun. But in shooting challenges i would go with the semi-auto.

No Problem, This is discussion. No matter the subject, discussion breeds good things....."usually". However I moniter the forums on this site and I have to say I am impressed with the diversity you people can go on about...every changing and always interesting. Just remember to take this kind of personal interest in people and guns to the real world too.
