have you shot one? I read an article in a mag. that said the taurus 1911 is a very good gun and for the price you get allot of extras

Para offers a lot more choices; barrels from 3" to 5", mag capacity from 6 to 14 rounds, single/double stack, single action or LDA...
Of course they are not cheap......

While the taurus offers a lot of features for the money,quality control at taurus is somewhat "spotty". I've owned/shot paras for years and totally reccomend them.

You can not beat a Para. This is the last gun you will ever 'need', not to say you will not buy a few more.....Shoots well, built machined and assembled perfectly
The tauraus felt like light, machined poorly- did not shoot the tauruas

Both are good pistol, but I like the Para more. Better amde gun and very accurate. If you have the money for the Para go with it. Taurus, does make a good pistol.
