Having never shot one I don't know what the big deal is. Do they have a amazing trigger, is it that they aren't made anymore, or is it that they say Colt? Just wondering why one would want to pay so much for one?

WELL COLT

is a well made AMERICAN gun. I will say I think they make the best revolvers. But like Sig the name costs about 200.00 more.

It's kinda like buying

catapillerequiptment, peterbuilt and kenworth trucks. It's a top end name and quality built and you pay for that.

I know most of you guys are auto crazed (said with love bro's) i like my auto's as well, but for what ever reason i prefer revolvers.. Something special about them that has to do with age i think.. anyway on Colts
A) They don't make them anymore.. thats the big deal.. You just can't find a new one.. I know the custom shop at Colt still puts out some pieces, and of course they still make the SAA in all three bbl's, but as i understand it the day of the Python is "pretty much" over.
B) They shoot ah..trying to find the right words here... diffrent, maybe, than other revolvers.. Right now i have two old Colt pockets these are non positive, (what Colt called its safty feature) in .32 colt, and a det.spl. in the past ive had 3 1917's and while i never owned a Python, i had my brothers trooper for awile.. All of these guns have the same Colt trait on triggers.. diffrent.. the single action is wonderful, but the double action is fair to good, and most stack.. If you cycle a Colt thru double action and it DOES NOT stack, then its problabley had work done to it..

I've also heard gun smiths say negative things about the mainspring breaking.. Over the years ive heard a couple of negatives about Colt revolvers from gun smiths (never a bad word on autos) Heres the deal..
All that said, i still believe in my heart that it's the best revolver money can buy.. The Colt royal blue, is and i KNOW this will all my heart, the BEST blue that has ever been put on a gun. The total fit and finnish is always perfect.. Were it not for the action thing they would be the rolex of revolvers

back at ya ebear

Yep, they do.. I came close to getting a first generation SAA last year, it had 0 blue left on it.. even on parts that don't get any wear.. was the 4 3/4 bbl, chambered in 32-20, and looked like it had been used as a hammer more than a gun.. Still wanted a grand for it.. I just couldn't see trying to explain that to the wife.. got a couple of .22's instead.(walther P22, and CZ Carbine) for like half of that for both.

that was a wise choice.Unless you are gifted like Greasypaws and can refinish a gun on your own and sell it at a profit.Go for the bargains. I said it before, Its a buyers market right now on Guns.I rarely by new any more. I just cruise the Auction Sites and look for Slightly used guns ,that some dude thought he wanted and realized he never used it and get Yesterdays Gun of the year for next to nothing!!!!Then I tell the wife I found it.lolol

Trooper MK 3 4" barrel .357 and the first time I took it to the range It put 5 Remington Golden Sabers into one inch at 25 yards. A wonderful gun, one that went thorugh a whole lotta full power .357, .38 +P+, and a shit load of UMC 130 gr .38s with no problems. The hammer did break from dry firing, but I can only imagine how much it was used prior. Smith and Wessons are known for holding up to high power rounds better than any other brands, but my Colt was a lot of fun. Why'd I have to go and give it to my dad? Oh well.
