My wife and I took a trip to the local firing range (Firing-line in Westland, MI) to pop here gun cherry. SHE LOVED IT!!! She shot a Walther P22(.22) and got the hang of it, then asked to shot my S&W M&P45...Well I was nervous that she was going to drop it but my girls a strong woman so I allow her to fire a shot with my assistants. Then gave her the chance to prove her self by shoting it by her self. Her did great! After about 30 min of shooting, she was throwing 9 out of 10 shots in to the 6in black at 5 yards. She now is begging me to get her a gun. I have decided to get her a .22 just to get her used to firing a handgun then work her into a 9mm so I can work or her stance, hold and trigger control. I am so proud of her. Be Kind and Courteous to All That You Meet, But Always Have A Plan to Kill Them

i started taking my daughter to the range about 8 months a go she was 12.started her shooting s&w 422 22cal at about 3 or 4 yards away.after about 2 months i moved the target to 5 or 6 yards and moved her up to glock 19 9mm .shes 13 now she shoots a full size randall 1911 45cal and keeps 9 out of 10 rounds in the 10 ring at 8 or 10 yards. i am so proud of her
Schuyler
shoots better than me.

I bought the wife a Ruger SP101 in .357 and she did not care for the trigger pull. She asked if she could shoot my XD .45ACP and she fell inlove with it. she was shooting soup cans at 15 yards within a single magazine, now I get to carry the Ruger and the XD is hers.
She also took ownership of my AR to. When I was putting it together she hated it untill she shot it and now she shoots it way more than I do. It actually is getting exspensive on ammo. I have resorted to putiin on a ammo allowance.
rsekerka73
No story here that the wife is a better shot than me, I don't mind though it make her feel good to give me tips at the range...
runawaygun762
But she doesn't outshoot me. I'm a man and she isn't. I had her fire 1100 rounds through her Beretta in two days when we first bought it. That was fun. Her hands were hurtin'.
joeybaggadonuts
the ex wife can shoot... after a few hundred rounds to the range, I decided not to take her anymore, since I am such a great teacher, that my student shoots better than me.
i am man enough to say it is much easier to teach a woman how to do a man's sport because they don't have balls or a penis' to measure into a "contest".

I made the mistake of letting my girlfriend shoot some of my guns. I have since had to buy her a sig 9mm and a pink 10/22.... I'm so ashamed
sytasyn_syn
You should be VERY ashamed! Pink...it matters not that it is for your wife...I have to say that the personal opinion of this gun guy is that none of my funds(meaning my checks AND hers) will not be used for silly novelty weapons and accessories.
However, having a chick that shoots is still badass, even if she does look ridiculous doing it(pink....ppsshhhh)

First time I took my wife out shooting, she said she was just going to watch. After about 5mins she was asking to shoot. Loves it.
Gunnin88
consistently out shoots me with my own pistol. Pisses me off, but I know if I am ever not there to protect her she will get the job done. hmmm come to think of it, I should be worried about my protection when she is gone.
runawaygun762
but if your woman can outshoot you, maybe you should practice more. It's not a contest, but if your wife is better able to defend the family than you, perhaps she should take the title of husband/boyfriend
Schuyler
or needed to. After all, it's not much more than eye/hand coordination and patience. I don't have a problem with my wife being better than I am at shooting (or making more money than I do, either). She was taught by her father, an Army Expert-rated who landed artillery shells on Rommel's tanks, and she has about 20 years more experience than I do. Her hands are a lot smaller and can grip the smaller pistols better than I can, too. I just am not comfortable with my pinky hanging loose off the grip, so I prefer a larger piece.
Besides, she's eager to be in my bed and she's pretty, too. If I insisted on being a Tough Guy (tm) and strutted my stuff, she wouldn't be with me. I prefer strong women who can take me on in any task to some girlie quivering at the sight of a bullet.

My wife is an army MP as well, having been trained by yours truly, and she is more than capable of defending the family. I am proud of her shooting ability, but to allow myself the mediocrity of being comfortable with having her outshoot me is unacceptable. Of course there are women who can outshoot me, but it's not something I would proclaim proudly. Hah hah, now I get to be an asshole. Berate me, Guns Lot members!!!! Whatcha got?

thats why God made womens feet are so small!!!! ..so they can stand closer to the sink!!!!
Schuyler
"but to allow myself the mediocrity of being comfortable with having her outshoot me is unacceptable."
Are you serious? Do you mean to say that your macho masculine self-image does not allow for the possibility that a female is actually better than you at something? What if she were better than you? OK, you're Expert rated. She is, too, and she gets better scores. What would you do? Is that something that would destroy your relationship? Let's say she started on the circuit and began bringing home trophies. Would you then be too proud to acknowledge her expertise?
That's just seriously bass ackwards. Sorry. I'll leave it alone.
runawaygun762
At what point did I say anything about ruining a relationship? I said more practice is the answer. I also said I wouldn't go proudly proclaiming my inability to outshoot my spouse. I realize there are people who can outshoot me, but I don't announce it with pride.
Schuyler
"but to allow myself the mediocrity of being comfortable with having her outshoot me is unacceptable."
Put it in lights. Too funny.
runawaygun762
I'm sorry, Schuyler. Perhaps I am sexist, but I still consider women to be the fairer sex and I realize if my wife becomes better than me at something, it is time to practice it more. I am proud of my wife for being capable of protecting our family, but I would feel nutless if she were more capable of it than me as protecting the family is, in my opinion, one of my responsibilities as the man of the house. I'm sure you are a rennaissance man, perhaps even a "Metrosexual", but I'm a bit old-fashioned. Ug make fire. Don't be scared to be a man.

I say you level the playing field and take out an eye, or use grenades.

nice work!keep the girl shooting!my daughter started out at 5 with a BB rifle then at 7 i moved her into a 10/22 ruger with which she shoots in the 4H junior rifle league.she is coming up on her 11th birthday in July!
runawaygun762
without grenades. I just take her shooting during the same time "period" of every month, so she feels uncomfortable and can't focus on shooting. I am God.
