This started with our bud Daisy having a bad night and posting the following.. I'm pretty sure we've all had those "moments" when getting arested kept us from giving a "tip". here's Daisys for tonight

stopped at a Wal*Mart we'd never been to. I picked up a 6 of Ale and a bottle of wine and a box of .380. Stella picked up 3 pair of shoes.
At about 10:58PM we were in the check out line when a casheir told me "we can't sell that to you, it's after 11" I live in a dry county & didn't know about a 11PM cut off for alcohol sales.
Anyway she explained it's a state law so I looked @ Stella's watch, 10:59, the clerk points to the clock on her register just as it turns 11:01, I am smoked! The smart-ass could have said "we have 2 minutes to check you out" but no.
So anyway, the line I was in was stalled, we waited several minutes and nothing happened so I told Stella "that's it, I've had all of this place I can handle" we left Ale, Wine, A box of .380 and several pair of shoes at the register, now I have an upset stomach and a rotten bad temper.
Too bad Dollar General does not sell booze and ammo!

Other than that I'm having a great night :<))

I have had that happen a couple times, luckily i live near the county border and can just go into the next county and buy alcohol there. should have dropped one of the beer bottles on the floor, and said break it buy it policy, guess i get it anyways, haha... wonder if that's a loop hole.

I'm not home officer, take me drunk!

and Missouri, we're only a few minutes from a "wet" county here in the state. Getting hooch anytime is no prob it's just a situation in which the cashier wanted to be a smart-ass. That's cool, too many other places to get the same products! Wuck Fal*Mart LOL!!

They just changed the law in our city, now allowing sales of alcohol mon-sun. what a wonderful thing...funny thing is, Gainesville is a liberal ass town, being a college town and all. maybe thats why, students got mad they couldnt buy beer on sundays. haha

I used to think

that UT had draconian liquor laws but all of this talk about "dry counties" is over the top. I spent seven years in TX as a kid (wasn't drinking then obviously) but I remember the "blue laws", couldn't even buy toys until after noon (if I remember right) on Sunday....Crazy!

Beer

it's wild, in some places you can not buy it after 12:00 but you can walk across the parking lot to the next store over and buy it until 2:00

CIty verse County, wild...

county, that's fine and dandy with me, alcohol is of little interest to me. I am though a member of a "private club". That is a restaurant in town that is licensed to sell alcoholic drinks to members.

You do not have to be a member to eat there but if you want a mixed drink or beer you must be a member. No $ involved, no background checks, no initiation and no one has to be nominated to join. Just write your name on the paper, voila, you can now drink legally in a dry county.

Weird, huh?
