Taurus PT92 back in the early 80s. It ate most anything and a jam or missfeed was rare but it wouldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Horrible accuracy. #2 was a Ruger 10/22. I know thats odd but I guess I got a lemon. Finiky as hell and not real accurate either. Jammed on anything I tried to feed it.

Well

I dont own any lemons. So I will just say the worst gun I have ever shot. And that is my my friend Trav's Iver Johnson Champion 12 Gauge. No matter how many times I shoot it the damn thing breaks open during firing! The shell flys by my head as fast as the shot comes out the other end! But it didnt used to do that. When I was in high school we shot it about every weekend.....UNTIL he was talked into changing the wood and modifying it. Gues who talked him in to it? No not me. A bunch of sixth grade cousin that were at his family reunion that were from out of state! Ever since the mods were done the gun has not been on my list of safe to shoot.

Have a good one John.

I had some piece of crap 9mm when I was about 13 or 14 that would jam at least once a mag. I don't even know what kind it was. It was fun at the time to shoot shit up on the farm, but it was a garbage gun. I don't think I ever cleaned or lubed it (which may account for its performance). Since then I would say the least favorite gun that I've owned would be a SW40VE. I don't think I ever experienced any failures with it, just hated the loooong heavy trigger and reset.

My worst gun was a Glock. POS blew up in my hand. lol j/k

I've been pretty lucky with the firearms I've owned, but the worst was/is the Rossi youth I bought my son. But it's just the .243 barrel. Damn thing can't hit near the same spot twice at all.

Are you interested in selling the .243 barrell?
Or, I can work you up some handloads if you would like.
I had the same issue with a breakopen .223 from New England firearms.
I kept experimenting with different bullet weights and powder charges until it got sub MOA.
Factory ammo was 8" pattern or more, if it was on paper.

Yes, I wouldn't mind selling it. I experimented with this myself. Not with handloads, but with different bullet weights in factory loads. I found with the 58gr Hornady Varmint VMax, I could get the hit the target @ 50yds with an occasional flyer. Remington core-lokt 80gr loads would open up the group considerably, but it would still be on paper. 100gr bullets would shoot about as well as a smoothbore musket (and a crappy one at that).

The thing is, I got this for my son when he was smaller because I was catching him tucking the butt stock under his armpit. But he's outgrown the stock, and I'm not worried about holding on to the .243 barrel for memories. He can keep the stock and the .22 and .410 barrels for his kids.

I need to get him a full size rifle soon, because I want to start taking him out to the lease to hunt with me while he's still living at home and before he moves off to college.

I don't know what I can get for the barrel though. Probably not much of anything. I did mount a scope on it though. Just a cheap Bushnell 3-9X/40mm, but I had this on my rifle before, and it did a good job.

Anyway, how you doing? How are things out west?

Maybe we can reach a deal.
Out west? 105 and dry. Pert near miserable.
Radio said this is the longest recorded drought in weather data history for the panhandle. I figured it was worse in the dust bowl days but I guess not.

Yeah, seeing as there's no action on it, there shouldn't be a problem shipping it. You want the scope? If not, I can pull it off. I'll get you pictures of it soon.

Sorry to hear about the weather, I was hoping y'all had got some of that rain last month that seemed to be coming through weekly. This country needs a national water pipeline. If we can do it with oil, we need to do it with water. Too many time we see the midwest deluged and the west in drought. It'd be nice if we could move that water from where they don't want it to where they do.

We could use a little rain also. Right now, this wallow fire is the 2nd biggest in the history of the state. Could surpass the largest pretty soon if they don't get a handle on it. Vaq, it's in the white mountains, not too far from the rim area. I had plans to go up there this weekend, but not sure now.

yup

My guess is that it'll take 10-15 years just for all the black charred flora to start looking somewhat normal, obviously longer for large tree growth. Last night I saw a herd of elk running from the smoke on the news. I'm sure it has devastated the wildlife in that entire region. Last I heard it was 400,000 acres over 600 square miles and zero percent contained. Larger than the Phoenix metro area. That puts it in perspective for me when I drive a hour straight and I'm still not across town.

Yeah, I changed my work hours to earlier in the day and I mostly pop in and out while I'm at work. I get on sometimes after work, but lately things have been busy around the house. That's the way it goes sometimes. Either real busy at work or real busy at home and sometimes both. But rarely neither.

I just got to handle a saiga short barrel shotgun prototype. Totally illegal in washington state. only reason I think it is one of the worst guns, because I can not legally own it...

I know technically does not qualify for the requirements in the post, but still a short barrel shotgun would be fun to have in my truck for crows, pigeons, or car jackers...

I will see if I can get a photo and post it here, kinda looks like an MP5 on HGH and diabol

Sounds like one fun gun for sure.

Felix has a Class 3 FFL allowing him to manufacture. He actually builds 22 trainers and such for LEO's.

Put together a 1500 rpm POF 22 AR for a demo. We go down and meet up at the range and blaze away with it trying to get it to fail other than it being because of crappy 22 ammo. Later on the next week he comes up to shoot the weekly match and tells me he has something for me to see.

Saiga 12 tac'ed out like a Russian Tankers AK47SU except it has a quad rail and one nasty muzzle breach brake on the front. Hands it over, it's a Saiga 12 shorty decked out. I tell him I want to shoot it, Ed tells me not at that time because the place was full of Civilians so no go.

I tell Felix I'll come down to area 51 and try it out when he goes out next time. So the next time I talk with him I ask about it and he tells me he had pulled it all apart and put it back together to sell and it was sold.

I didn't even notice that it was Select Fire, he told me it was totally uncontrollable, which I already kind figured it would be when he mentioned it. Said it beat the hell out of him and he only hit what he was aiming at with the first round..

But, after seeing that Saiga, I want one and it will have a 16 inch barrel on it and a quad with breacher brake. Side folding Skeleton Stock and all...

Afternoon gents. How are things?

I don't know if you saw Jeff's post about the .44 uberti, but I told him any pistol that can fire a .44 Mag can fire a .44 special. That is correct, isn't it? I was thinking about that, and fearing that maybe there is some special exception and I don't want a blown up gun or, worse, an injury on my conscience.

Howdy, hope all is goin good today pal.

As for the .44 Mag and .44 Special firing in the same gun I dont know. I never shot a .44 special or mag that I can remember right off. However there are numerous post of people firing .38 in .357 mag revolvers. So I think a double action revolver guru here can answer ya question.

Hey Saint, Snake

yeah, it can shoot it....

Thing people want to make sure of is if it is an actual original antique that they use a modern load which matches the same pressures as the old powder load...

You take and load up something with Power Pistol or Number 9 Magnum Powder and your looking at have a multi piece cylinder and possibly psychical damage to the body.

It's a replica it fires regular 44mag just curious as to wether I could fire specials or a lite load of 44mag if they make that sort of load. I haven't gotten into reloading because my landlord won't let me, he's afraid I'll blow up his house

you can definitely shoot 44 special in it...

Loading inside an Apartment can be hairy, but in a house with a room set aside just for that it wouldn't be so bad. Though, if there was a fire they would sit back and watch it burn if they learned there was powder in there and ammo, most likely..

I rent the house but the landlord just doesn't want loose powder in the house and I can respect that, he has no problem with firearms although he does think I have too many and way to much much ammo, but I am a good renter so he just shakes his head and chuckles when another package comes to my door while I am on the boat

Hear that!

I just want to begin by saying to Roosevelt E. Roosevelt, what it is, what it shall be, what it was. The weather out there today is hot and shitty with continued hot and shitty in the afternoon. Tomorrow a chance of continued crappy with a pissy weather front coming down from the north. Basically, it's hotter than a snake's ass in a wagon rut.

90+ down here right now and only going to get hotter so I know ya'll out there are gonna be cooking eggs on the side walk....

Have to do a group think on it and see what everyone can do so we can put it all together in one sock.

Hell, have to do some research on some ranges and try to make it close enough so no one is having to cross the country to get to it.

It would be great to find a Range that allows action shooting, long range and shotgun. Or a shoot house, now that would be fun I think...

Guess I'll see if I can get my wife to help me do some searching on that and then also the best time of year where it isn't going to be a sweltering or freezing time.

Wonder when the next big NRA get together is?
