Very interesting article in the Wall Street Journal. The Kool-Aid effect only lasts so long. Those of us here knew this was going to happen as it was just a matter of time......

Seems like people would realize if something sounds too good to be true..it usually is..but theres no dealing with those with that blind devotion..they cannot see or hear anything but what they want to..like the man said, there are none so blind as those who will not see..watched a show where a group of people were questioned on how they think obammy did..in that 20 people there were 4 black folks...can u guess how they think he has done?..OJ all over again to me

Interesting read.
Do you suppose the author, FOUAD AJAMI, is Islamic?
Could be the most ironic thing I have read in years.

I'm assuming you read the article. Seems to me it is perfect English--not a mistake on it. And the analysis is right on as far as I'm concerned, a sober assessment of Obama's fall from grace. So if this guy is a member of islam, as his name may indicate, what does that tell you?

Edit: Found him: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fouad_Ajami

who was avowedly FOR the Iraq war. He's a professor of Middle Eastern Studies. For a professor in an academic istitution, being for the Iraq War is a gutsy thing to proclaim. He also was an advisor to Condoleeza Rice and the Bush administration. Although he may not be as conservative as some here would like, the very fact there is such a thing as an Arab conservative is astounding. And he writes better English than most people--especially Snake.

the statement about Snake was an appendage. So you can take snake out of the statement and read it that way if you want, which does have meaning.

He was born in an Arab country to Iranian parents. Iranians are Persian, not Arabic. No wonder he supports a war in Iraq.

Great article and

spot on...our history is such that we kick ass when needed, apologize for nothing and make our country the best in the world, where our people are blessed with the one thing that is theirs for the taking...but only if they seize it...opportunity. Bush fucked up by growing and spending, but it pales in comparison to what Obama is doing. He belongs in a classroom, where his actions only affect his own students, not as President where he affects everyone.

But yeah, it's nice to see and there are a few out there who will call a spade a spade...but not enough of them. I despise the cowards of Islam as much as the terrorists (well, almost)

but one group is actively murdering, while the others are just to scared or don't give a shit enough to speak out. Many Americans don't really speak out against the jihad either or don't care as much as they should...I couldn't place them all in the same category...both despicable, but one is worse than the other...but it's not that big of a difference. And one last thing...if they are keeping quiet about an active plan well, then that puts them in the same category as the killers.

Hitler tried that and it wasn't well received by the rest of the world. In fact, we're still living with the consequences. I support Israel 100%, but the fact is, without the Holocaust and the general European hatred of Jews, Israel would never have been created and the thorniest problem in the Middle East would not exist today. Yes, I kmow it's more complext than that. The UK partitioning out a country across Sunni, Shiite, and Kurdish populations (i.e.: Iraq) wasn't so smart either.

The real problem, as I see it, is a potential radical takeover of Middle Eastern governments, and, for that matter, our own with the socialist democrats. It's a multi-front war. What we do not want and cannot have is a United Arabic caliphate that could seriously challenge real US power in the region. We're going to have enough problems with China and India. In other words, it's in our best interests to keep the region somewhat destabilized at the moment.

Ultimately, we must find a way to encourage moderate Islamic politics. There are nearly 2 billion Muslims, so do the math. that's twice China. Turkey, for example, has been up until recently a good example of a moderate Islamic republic based on the European model. THAT'S what we want the Middle East to look like. Their brand of Islam is moderate; they don't do Burkhas and scarves, for example, and women wear modern European clothing.

We can't achieve this by making sure we alienate 2 billion people and make them think the Taliban might be a good idea. We want the to celebrate the 4th of July, like in Kuwait, because we liberated them from Saddam.

Islam is not a religion--at least in the analysis of one scholar. Read Peter Hammond's very interesting analysis in his book--"Slavery, Terrorism and Islam: The Historical Roots and Contemporary Threat"...........................

Islam is not a religion, or a cult. It is a total, 100% system of life, having religious, legal, political, economic, social and military components. The religious component is a "beard" for all the other components. The objective of the system is the Islamization of the world, and begins when there are enough muslims in a country to begin agitating for their religious "privileges", says Hammond, at about 2% of the population.
Read the book---it is fascinating and scarey.

then how much harder would it be to take out a way of life. Islam is a religion, just one that has spawned a society around it. Look at the area islam was born and it's not hard to see how people could take to it with such fervor. When all you have to look forward to is more sand, shit, and sun, the shade and water provided by a madrassa seems to be a good idea.
