A WWII Veteran

I hope this isn't too much of a downer guys, but I just have to relay the story. You won't hear it anywhere else and can research all the events.

My wife works for an investment firm. One of thier clients is a frail old man named Hilary.
When I first heard of him it was just "this little old man who has no family left". Hilary and his departed wife had no children. Hilary began to frequent the office more often after my wife started working there. At first I thought the old fart was horny (she's easy on the eyes). Later it just kinda hit me, he is lonely and everyone who gets to know my wife loves her.
Back to the vet part. As some of you know, there was a Victory flight a couple of weeks ago to take all the surviving WWII Veterans from Texas to DC and to tour all the war memorials. The day before the flight the local WWII Veterans were fed lunch at a posh banquet then a parade lined with patriots and grateful Americans along the route took them to the local Civic Center for accolades and fellowship. Hilary had a ball! I didnt' realise that the retired machinist had fought in the trenches along side the greatest generation. After the festivities he again stopped by the office and told of how excited he was to be flying to the nations capitol the next morning. My wifes co-worker is married to an Airman and offered for him to pick Hilary up and take him to the airport at 2:00 am the next morning. Hilary kindly declined and reassured them that he could handle it. Hilary awoke at 4:00 am the next morning realising he had overslept and missed the flight. The pictures in the local paper of the Veterans in attendance at the War Memorials in DC only made me more sad for Hilary.
I hope we can all appreciate the sacrifices of the heroes and the unknowns.
Do me a favor guys, if you know a "Hilary", do your damnest to make what time he has left special and let him know how grateful you are for his sacrifice and service.
God Bless Our Troops!! Past and Present!

The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!
