The AR-50 utilizes a removable buttstock and a modified M16 type vertical pistol grip for ease of transport. It uses the .50 BMG caliber ammunition used by the United States military's M2 Browning machine gun. Most .50 BMG rifles are frequently considered Anti-materiel rifle for military use, however the AR-50 has more recently been adopted to extreme anti-personnel long-range sniping.
The AR-50 offers a relatively affordable entry level rifle into the world of .50 caliber weaponry. The AR-50 is not cheap by any means. The price of the rifle is $2,999 MSRP, however this price is considerably less expensive than many of its peers. The military has never adopted the rifle, however the AR-50 was manufactured and designed for civilians as a long range target rifle.
At approximately 59.5 inches (151 cm) in length and 34 pounds (15.5 kg), this rifle is manufactured and designed for use with a bipod. Recoil is considerably mild due to the excellent muzzle brake and the weight of the AR-50. One should have exceptional hearing protection when observing and firing the weapon as is common with any .50 BMG caliber firearm.
