The Beretta 9000 pistol was designed using a polymer framed model that retains traditional open top slide styling with relative modern materials. The pistol is chambered for either the 9 x 19 mm or .40 S&W cartridges and can be equipped with either 10 or 12 round magazines dependent on the caliber. Adapters are available, though rare, that allow the use of high capacity Beretta 92 series magazines. Some magazines are outfitted with an adjustable finger rest that can be either raised for those with smaller hands or lowered for those with large hands. The weapon has fully adjustable sights for each individual that can be replaced with night sights if desired.
The Beretta 9000S has four (4) different variants and two calibers in two configuration types. For example the 9000S Type D in 9x19 mm is often referred to as the 9000S D9, however the .40 S&W in the Type F variant would be 9000 F40.
The Beretta 9000 series pistol comes available in 9x19 mm and the more powerful .40 S&W calibers in the buyers choice of F or D variants.
Similar to other Beretta type pistols, the F variant comes with single and double action operation as well as a firing pin block safety. The weapon also features a slide mounted manual safety / decocking latches.
The configuration of this weapon is double action, which makes unnecessary the need for a dococking lever.
Tom Cruise's character in the film Minority Report, a film by Steven Speilberg used the Beretta 9000.
