The Daewoo DP51 is a semi-automatic, 9 mm pistol produced and manufactured by the South Korean Company Daewoo Precision Industries.

It is a lightweight, compact pistol with a "fast action" trigger mechanism which is considered to be somewhat unconventional. The frame is composed of a matte finish, aluminum and the slide is made of blued steel.

The unique "fast action" trigger device allows a cocked hammer to be moved into its down position while still ensuring the mainspring stays compressed. A somewhat light pull on the trigger allows the hammer to flick back, after which the firemarm would operate in conventional single-action (SA) mode.

The Daewoo DP51 can also be fired in traditional single- and double-action (DA) modes.

The unique "fast action" mode permits the trigger travel of DA mode while keeping the trigger weight of SA mode. This has proven to create a more accurate first shot because of the lighter weight of the trigger. The pistol is also safer due to the exteneded trigger travel required to fire the pistol.

The factory and primary magazines are 13-rounders. Smith & Wesson 59-series magazines have been used and are compatible with the DP51.

The pistol also features uses 3 dot sights and ambidextrous safeties.

The Daewoo DP51 is also outfitted with a firing pin block. The unique firing pin is blocked from moving forward unless and until the trigger is in its rearmost position.

I know what you are saying but i had a DP-51 when they first came out and owned it for 3 years with no problems what so ever. at the same time i had a Beretta 92. i will say this, it was a shock to see the Daewoo out shoot the Beretta at the range.

Just wanted to throw my 2 cents in here. I have owned the Daewoo DP51 now since 1991, its my primary carrier. At first I wasn't to impressed with it but it was all I could afford at the time, and that was before I actually had it in my hands. Now that I have been using it for over a decade I am very impressed with it. I have fired a few guns in my life and so far this one is the most accurate. Its reliability has been without blemish, which is more then I can say for my 1911 colt .45, whether I am popping rounds off as fast as I can or taking care with each shot I have never had a jam and I have fired a lot of different manufacturers ammo. I know 2 others that own this gun in my local area and they have owned theirs longer then I have mine, as far as I know they have never had a jam either or any problems with their DP51. Magazines are a little hard to come by but can be found. I have a 15rnd. S&W 59 clip, it works very good but sticks out the butt of the gun about a half inch. The one thing I don't like is that its not capable of firing + loads.
Well any way, that is my two cents.
