The sole difference between the Glock 21 and the Glock 21C is that the slide and barrel are compensated on the C model to significantly reduce muzzle climb while firing the pistol.

I bought my Glock 21C months ago and went to my local range with it alongside my Glock 17, G21C is something that criminals'd think twice about being shot by it period and due to "compensated" model, i really love it because there's so little recoil with it which enables me to do a quick follow up shots and it's perfect for home defense and combats, I do certainly wish that the troops'd carry this as their primary sidearm instead of that crappy Beretta M9 that they carries in combats!
I've shot the 21sf and love it. It's my uncle's gun and I took my permit to carry test with it. I put 50 rounds in a 8 inch group. i was very impressed with how it handled and thought, i gotta get one. then I heard about the compensated model and it seemed like a no brainer. but then I thought about shooting it in a defense situation at night. And so the question is, How bad is the flash from the porting? Will it cripple one's ability to effectively defend themselves?

it will definately hinder follow up shots, as the ports direct the controled explosion upwards just behind the front sights.
