Hi guys, just a few comments on the Hipoint thread....I own "several" guns. I've been an avid shooter for at least 50 of my 57 years. I was driving thru town 5-6 years ago and saw a sign in front of the gun shop I like to browse thru, "Hi-Point 9mm c-9 comp, $99.00". I gotta see this, I thought! So in I go, inquire and Rick lays it on the counter in front of me. Ugly lookin' thing! I rack the slid a few times, it doesn't feel too bad....what the hey. So I bought it, 2 10 round clips and a box of 9mm ammo...tax and all, $142.00! Couple weeks later I go to our local Game & Fish range. One other guy and myself have it all to our selves. I put a target up at 25 yds, load this ugly thing and put 10 rounds in a 6" circle, hmmmm. I load it up and do it again. Same result, 10 shots w/o a hitch. Now 20 holes in my target. The other guy has been shooting the whole time I have and has narry a hit! So he comes over and says, "what the hell is that thing?" I show it to him and he says "ugly thing, aint it". I load it for him and he promptly puts 10 holes in a target at 25 yds........I asked him what his gun was, "a 10mm Dan Wesson" he says proudly! After talking a bit it comes out what I paid for it. He looks kinda sick. Turns out he paid $750.00 bucks for his beautiful pistol......Hmmmmm?? Now like I said, I've had this gun now for 5-6 years, no jams, no misfires, no fail-to-feeds. It's in my trk all the time, never been cleaned,(cleaning isn't recommended for 1000 rounds!) I also bought the ugly 9mm carbine. Same result, hits where it's pointed and goes 'bang' every time. Now I have "braggin" guns...Rugers, CZ's, Taurus's, etc. but I don't keep them with me in the trk all the time, don't want 'em rusting, getting stolen, and the like. I guess you cld say I rely on my Hi-Points to keep me safe.....they're always there and I have full confidence in them, just like my Rugers,CZ's, and Taurus's.

Apeman, that's some good info you provided. I am considering purchasing my first handgun, and want a reliable weapon but not too expensive. I have been doing some research and it looks like I will be trying the Hi Point 9MM.
