Since this was originally posted in 2007, Kimber has returned to using their original internal extractor design which is closer to the original John Browning design of the Colt Model 1911. I've heard that this was done because they were having reliability issues with the external extractor, but I don't know this for certain. These are excellent all steel guns and the two tone Eclipse finish with the brushed steel on matte black creates a striking look. This is a great looking pistol coupled with the performance of a Kimber. I do not own one, but if I did, it would probably be a trailer queen. Performs really well, but looks too good to shoot too much. There is a Kimber Stainless Target II currently associated with this write up. I am digging around to find an image of the Eclipse version. I will post it if I can locate it.
