The Maverick 88 is a simplified Mossberg 500 (synthetic forearm and stock, cylinder bore, cross-bolt safety). Accessories are generally compatible with Mossberg 500.

Background

There are two basic models of the Mossberg Maverick 88. The M 88 field and the 88 security. The 88 field comes equipped with a 28" vent-rib barrel and the security comes equipped with an 18.5" non-vent rib barel. The Security model weighs about 6lbs, both fire 2 3/4" and 3" shells. The 88's have a general magazine capacity of 6 or 8 shots and cannot have their magazines easily extended with any type of magazine extension.

Yeh i got one, its not bad for the price. But you get what you pay for. good starter rifle.

good for an inexpensive home defense piece not something for friday night trap and skeet at your gun club load with buckshot and keep handy at home
