I'VE PURCHASED MY 1911 PARA ORDINANCE LTC IN 2007. FROM THE FIRST DAY THE GUN WAS RELEASE TO ME FROM THE STORE I ALREADY HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE PIECE. THE FIRST PROBLEM I HAD WAS THAT THE GUN WOULD NOT LOAD ANY AMMO AT ALL! THE BULLET WOULD ALWAYS GET STUCK LODGED IN THE BOTTOM OF THE FEEDING RAMP. EVEN CHANGING TO WILSON COMBAT MAGAZINES WOULDN'T CURE THE PROBLEM. I TRIED E-MAILING PARA (IN CANADA) AND GOT NO RESPONSE BACK. CALLING THEM WAS WASTEING MY TIME BEING PUT ON HOLD. FINALLY WHAT I HAD TO DO WAS TAKE IT TO MY GUNSMITH AND POLISH BELOW THE FEEDING RAMP TO CURE THE PROBLEM.

MY SECOND PROBLEM WAS THE MAG CATCH RELEASE BUTTON. IT BROKE WITH LESS THAN 500 ROUNDS PUT INTO IT. BUYING AN AFTERMARKET MAG CATCH DIDN'T FIT EXACTLY. IT HAD TO BE CUSTOM FITTED.

THIRD PROBLEM I HAVE NOW IS THE WEAK-ASS SEAR SPRING THAT IS PUT ON THE GUN. TRYING TO FIND A REPLACEMENT IS A MYSTERY. EVEN BROWNELLS DON'T HAVE ONE?? APPARENTLY, STANDARD 1911'S SEAR SPRINGS DON'T FIT INTO MY GUN.(TOO SHORT)LOOKS LIKE THE PERSON WHO CUT THE SLOT FOR THE SEAR SPRING FOR MY FRAME CUT TOO LOW AND HE/SHE HAD TO BE FABRICATE ONE TO FIT OTHER THAN THROWING THE FRAME AWAY.

(IF ANYONE CAN GIVE ME ADVICE ON GETTING A BETTER SEAR SPRING FOR MY GUN, IT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED)

Para Ordnance

I have heard the same problems from 2 other owners of Para Ordnace handguns. I've not seen this myself but I trust those who reported the problems to me. I understand that the company was quick to help them with the problems, but I am dubious about the weapon.

out of spec

Howdy,
I have two of them, a 9 and 45 and both of them are out of spec. The 9 is real bad and had to be re cut and the .45 is laying here in need of a spring. I have Brownell's,Nowlin and Clark springs here and none will work in the gun. I have switched out sears from other guns and they are all the same. Either the sear is located to high or the slot for the spring is too low.
Thanks
Mike

Howdy,
I'm back after getting into the .45. Maybe this will help someone.
I found that if I start the spring on the sear, push the bow out and slide it downward to the notch it will bridge to the sear. This technique takes the bend out and can make the reach. I did have to bevel the lower part of the sear and the mating part of the spring so they dont bind when the trigger is pulled back. Also if you have an adjustable trigger stop try to stop it as soon as you can to prevent the sear from moving back and over the top of the spring. It is that close. I probably have 1/32" of spring on the sear and it is all I can get.
I may end up moving the slot up the frame like I did on the 9mm before it is over.
Good luck
Mike
