Background

The SIG P228 is most notably found with the Air Force OSI, Army CID and the Naval Aviation units. Within the United States military, the firearm is noted as the M11 and severs as the Swedish Police agencies standard issue pistol. The SIG P228 comes available solely in 9mm Luger Parabellum. The SIG P229 pistol is almost identical to the SIG P228, however comes with a solid piece of steel as opposed to the P228's all carbon stamped steel slide. The weapon is also available in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .257. It is difficult to different the P228 and the P226 from a distance however comparing the trigger guards, barrel and the slide will show the differences up close. The P228 pistol's barrel is a clear 12.7 mm shorter, and therefore it is 2.5 mm shorter than the P226. The P226 larger capacity magazine may also be used in the P228, however it will protrude from the base of the grip. The weapon also comes in the Ladies Escort type for women with extra small hands there is an adapted trigger.
