12 Ga Cubic shot

12 Ga Cubic shot

Our Cubic Shot SCREAMS out of a 19" barrel at 1,400 FPS yet has a surprisingly mild recoil. Our Cubic Shot is extruded and formed specifically to have lots of sharp corners. The shot is made of an extra hard zinc alloy, having a similar hardness and density to that of copper, which insures that it will not deform upon impact. The fast opening Shot measures about .25" across, about the same size as #4 buck. The cubic design will not over penetrate, making this round and its whopping 45 cube payload ideal for short range personal protection. If your target is close and you want to slice it to ribbons, reach for the Cubic Shot. www.paraklesetechnologies.com.

I wonder if this ammo

harms the barrel. I doubt it, as zinc alloy is still softer than steel, but I don't know. I'm not sure how this would really be any better than buckshot or turkey loads, but it looks cool.

My guess is it stays in the plastic sleve or "wad" till it exits the bbl right? Anyway its a scary looking puppy, and the "slice to ribbons" comment is "discriptive"... ie scared pee outa me..

Yeah, good point, greg

The shot cup holds most of it, even if there are a few slits in it. Still not sure it's much of an improvement, though. But I wouldn't turn it down if someone gave me a box or 40.

Interesting concept

I would like clarification from Sam on exactly what is meant by "upon winning" in the next to last sentence. Winning what? I'd like to know just what the "extra hard zinc alloy" is, although that may be proprietary information. Certainly zinc metal is far, far softer than steel, as Greg said, but how "hard" is this alloy? I doubt that it would hurt the barrel, however. Hevi-Shot doesn't. That brings up another thought - does anyone know of a Hevi-Shot load with shot this large? I don't, but I'm by no means an expert on shotgun ammo.

I suspect the article was copied from e-bay or such, thus the "winning bid" or "buy it now button"

too big, would not squeeze out of an improved or modified.
And dimes are too big for full choke, thats how you determine full choke if it is not marked.
you cannot slip a dime in the muzzle of a full choke 12ga.

Well

The part that I don't understand is where they compare the alloy to copper as copper is a pretty soft metal as far as metals go.

When "gangsta" was like the mob.. Heard this was a killer load, guess the deal was less evidence, more powder, the dimes open up to a wider pattern quicker than shot. This is all antidotal, i don't think they did any serious testing. Have you shot them, and does this sound right..

scientific research was the last thing on my mind. We were just assing around trying anything.
They did open up quick, sounded like hell too. Not much pattern, just a bunch of "flyers".
Crowd control, not really "aim at the target" stuff.

I've never used dimes

But I used to pour the shot out of a round and load it up with a bunch of .177 cal air gun pellets. No real pattern to speak of, and terrible penetration.

I saw a show

where they compared dimes to 00 buck. They were shooting into a pig carcus. The dimes didn't even penetrate. I think it was wild west tech or something. They were debunking a story about william bonney's jail break where he supposedly picked up a coach gun loaded with dimes and killed someone with it.
