Reaper...thanks. Yea, I got her yesterday. I have not shot it yet. It's my first AK and I just sat down tonight and learned how to take it apart and put it back together. It seems very nicely made. I let you all know how it shoots when I put some rounds through it.

ebear and sir charles the 9 toe...thanks guys. And Ebear, maybe I should clarify, I really meant, "field strip". I didn't take the stock or barrel off, just the reciever, bolt, gas piston etc. And since I had never done that before nor ever seen it done, nor did the russian instruction booklet care to tell me how to do it, I just winged it. It was actually quite easy and should be since kids carry around Ak's in other countries. About 15 minutes to figure it out.

catfish...

so you went and spoiled yourself on your first AK. What the hell, why not? We all deserve it, my man. Beautiful rifle. You will enjoy it. The AK is a truly great weapon. Post back and tell us just how good it felt to hold and shoot it the first time at the range.

Something else...cleaning an AK is unbelieveably simple and fast. I can run the brass scrub through the barrel, three patches and the fourth is just for good luck. Damn thing is clean. Takes nearly ten patches after the scrub to even feel good about cleaning one of my AR's. Congratulations on your purchase!

from DPMS Panther that is chamber for the 5.56mm x 45mm NATO round, and with it ryo also got plenty of ammo that is the OTM special match round. ryo got to shoot it for first time last weekend and will be taking it with us when family go to gun club and shooting range in the morning like we almost alway do in sunday mornings. it surprisingly simple to field strip. it was easy to clean after only being fire for couple of hour. ryo had lot fun with it. it shoot really accurate at the 500 meter gallery and tomorrow ryo is going to try it out on the 600 meter gallery. have decide that will clean new weapon after every shooting so it alway be easy to clean. it little bit more difficult and envolve than ryo first rifle which got for birthday this year. that one is the Walther G22 Black A3 Bullpup in .22lr caliber. it very simple and easy to clean. and even though now have first real battle rifle, which is actually a small caliber sniper rifle, ryo just love the Walther bullpup. it so kewl looking and it so much fun to shoot. ryo have never fire an AK style weapon yet, but my pops have several in his collection now. hope to be allow to try one out soon.
