History
The Astra 600 was a shortened version of the Astra 400 in 9x19mm Parabellum. The gun was made in Spain for the Nazis during World War II, and about 60,000 pistols were made, although only the first 10,500 were delivered before the end of the war. The gun was rugged and of high quality and accuracy, but the blowback operation of the gun gave a snappy, distinct recoil, despite the heavy weight. Because of its ruggedness and weight, it was in some countries nicknamed "the pipewrench."

As your post says, Snake, the 600 was rugged & of high quality. I always liked Astra guns. Even in their first days, when they were making the "Ruby" 7.65 mm (.32 ACP) guns, theirs were of the highest quality. The Constable was a great mid sized semiauto. Their A-70 was an excellent small single action 9 mm.
