That's just awkward....

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses

who still had family there. He had some way that he had downloaded onto his computer at work so he could go onto the Chinese internet and whatever he typed came out in Chinese characters. Damndest thing I ever saw. He was an ace on the computer anyway, and in every other way. Maybe the best chemist I've ever known. He was also about 6 ft 2 in, and loved to play basketball. He was a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine, then got permission from the govt. to come over here. He got a PhD in organic chemistry, then told the Chinese govt. to fuck themselves - he wasn't going back. Got his citizenship, so they couldn't come after him.

It's interesting to hear people's experiences.
A man that lived here was a partisan fighter during WW2 but few people knew about it because the news editor never bothered to write about it until after the man died. I'd liked to have read more about him but he's gone and his stories with him.

The Chinese guy

is still one of my best friends. We email each other frequently and sometimes talk on the phone. Another thing about him - he's a great cook, and does most of the cooking at home since he's so much better than his wife. He'd bring his lunch every day, and often would bring enough to share with several others. It was always great, except when he'd bring sushi-like stuff. No way do I eat that. Raw dead fish is bait or cat food.

cat food:<)
Once on a train from Iwakuni to Osaka a nice Japanese lady with her baby bought a tray of food for me, total shocker to me but it was very good and no doubt there was raw fish in it.
Too bad she spoke no English! I'd like to have thanked her verbally.
