How is everyone tonight
How 'bout you?
Just got off work little while go of a long long week.
Thursday I'm off till Tuesday. Aint been home in 2 weeks. Sure ready.
I would be looking foward to it to. I hope you have fun at home. We have prisons that is short handed so we get sent to other prisons to work and just come home on weekend. but I guess its cheaper to pay us to drive there and stay at motals and pay for our meals, than just hire new people.
Short handed just don't make sense in this economy. Ought to be able to hire some decent folks pretty cheap.
I think it cause the pay isn't the best, and alot of them cant pass the drug test. one place i know of will hire anybody as long as they can pass drug test. and prison TV shows isnt helping.
We had a boy call 911 back in 2001 or 2 . This was staff.. said he was being held against his will.. The deal was that if we didn't have enough to relieve someone was "mandated" to stay.. So they had mandated this lad three or four times and somehow he'd made it out the door.. so this time his Lt. (nope not me) doesn't send a relief down.. then calls him and tells him he's mandated period..
Lt leaves the unit..gets up to main control heading to the parking lot.. cops pull up.. "hey we hear you guys got a staff being held hostage".. It was one of the funniest and saddest things i'd ever seen.. course the media was involved and nothing could be done with the lad.. This is why hazing is still a time honored tradition in corrections.. wrong as wrong can be... but you seperate the keepers..
true story.."hey we hear you guys got a staff being held hostage"
.."hey we hear you guys got a staff being held hostage"
The Lieutenant was a bud.. he got in more trouble than the staff.. The rest of the staff ganged up on him and he was gone before long.. Being short cause nobody "downtown" has the courage to make smart budget moves is worse than the kids actions..
Back later pard.. G's waiting, and im all PW'd.. man those nathans were good tho.. "make ya slap your moma..
I have never heared of a staff member calling the police to say their being held aginst there will. Thats funny and its sad. How old was this person, and did he still have to stay that day or did he get out of it?
We do this like mad at my facility! And there's no end in sight ever since there just isn't a deep enough pool of employees to be had that can fill the job requirements.
However, that does recall to mind a funny story. We had this one Lieutenant, who was fired for the morals clause later, who was fond of calling master control and telling them to hold outgoing staff between the gates until someone volunteered, staff who had already checked out and were legally free. Finally one woman did get out and did call the sheriff's office and that Lieutenant DID end up in a lot of trouble over it.
Now for the funny part: This same Lieutenant is trying to hold someone over, but this person has already clocked out and left the facility. Now, Greg as a white shirt you know the logical thing to do is simply hold someone who's still there. Not this Lieutenant! He went into Station One and got the phone number list and called the person he'd decided to hold on their cell phone! This guy is ALREADY AT HOME! He calls this guy and orders him to come back to the facillity or he's going to be fired and let's EVERYONE ELSE GO HOME. LOL, idiot ran the shift short for an hour just to make sure nobody got away from him.
To say the least nobody cried when this guy got shitcanned......
If I could be home to protect my property 24/7, I would love to have that sign!!
