I was on a 12 hour flight back here from Germany last summer--one of those knock down drag out terrible jet lag trips: Frankfurt to Seattle--and they had a bunch of Bonanza flicks on the tube. There was one where Little Joe and Hoss are thought to have robbed a bank (It was, of course, the bank manager who was the real thief) and the one where Ben's uncle is heading a band of outlaws. Fun stuff. the characters were so innocently drawn--none of this 'psycho-angst drama' stuff we have today. It was fun. Of course, SOME of us are not old enough to have seen these when they were originally on.
You might have been too old for this material when it was first run... LOL
I think Pernell Roberts is only one living.
I retired early and I deserved it. They were on when I was a kid. Pernell Roberts was my least favorite. He quit the show to become a 'real actor' then dissed TV as an inferior medium. Of course, if it hadn't been for Bonanza he would have been a gas station attendant on Hollywood Boulevard for the rest of his life. Creep.
but TV is in color now, and the aluminum foil on the "rabbit ears" won't work because TV's ultimately going to a digital signal
I now use the aluminum foil for a hat to keep the aliens from controlling my mind and abducting me. Besides, TV has always been in color. Black's a color, isn't it?
black is the absence of color, and white is the presence of all color in the visible spectrum... Damn! Maybe I did learn something in 8 years at the community college, after all.
When I was a kid, we didn't have electricity yet, wasn't invented, so we would have had to watch TV in the dark.
did'nt you have to shoo away the Doe Doe birds from sitting on the antenna?
My crazy cousin Wayne, had that job....
