Yep it's a spittin image. Yep it's s fine have shot skeet wth it.
What kind of dirty looks do you get from the skeet snobs when whip that one out?
It was a back yard shoot. They were shooting
12s and all I had handy was that .410
After 19 out of 20 they told me to take that damn
.410 and go home.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Good comment, Mike. You see these guys at matches with $2000 shotguns, with vests on that are covered with patches. They can generally shoot quite well (lots better than I can). They talk to each other - ONLY.
Have you ever seen these guys walking after dove, quail, or grouse? Have you seen them in a duck blind, when it's colder than hell?
Did they do any better than the average redneck with the old Browning A5, or Remington 1100 or 11-87, or even an 870?
Didn't think so.
clays with some Vendors,so at that time all i had was my Remington 870 with 18 inch barrel,i went to the club and tried to put my gun in the rack with the other guns,it was to short!Couple other shooters(skeet snobs) came over, kinda looked and walked away.I think i had the only pump gun in the rack(mine was now leaning on the end).Anyway i shot a 47 out of 50 with a perfect 25 thru the first set AND won a hundred dollars for doing it.One of the snobs complained but he was dismissed. It was fun.
I have heard rumors but this is the first time I seen one. Care to post info on it?
I love your story, Lucky.
A few years ago, at our company's national sales meeting, some of the guys set up a clays match. We had guys with lots of experience & guys with none. Everyone had a great time.
I came in tied for 3rd, using my friend's borrowed Winchester 1300 with an 18" barrel. The 1st place guy (a MN country boy, now from Minneapolis) was using a Remington 3200. The 2nd place guy (another MN country boy, now from Kankakee, IL), was using a plane jane Citori. These were the guns these guys hunted with, not something special they'd bought just to shoot matches. They just changed chokes to fit the game they were after any given day. They both shot clean 25's, then the guy with the Citori missed one on the 2nd 25.
I decided that maybe a TX country boy was kind of overmatched against the MN guys!
to kind of rub it in a bit,now i have a mossberg silver reserve O/U,thats my pheasant gun and sport shooter now.
I love to back yard skeet shoot. I have
a middle range launcher and use a single
shot New England 20. I can place 4 shells
in my left hand between my fingers and the
gun is so fine tuned I can pop it open and
drop in another shell almost as fast as a pump.
practice practice. anyway I'm so patched up
(8 in steel plate in my chest and steel rod down
left arm) I can't handle anything more than a 20
any more but I wont back down from a shoot or hunt.
you must have a nice chunk of land.....Backyard skeet shooting here in Illinois would probably get me jail time...lol
We have 13 acres with no houses in view.
I have a 20 ft thick dirt bank for a backstop
and we are 17 miles from the closest city.
my father has a ranch in Mexico, same thing. Great livin.I've gone night time hunting for wild hare...with 12 guage... I could'nt hit shit...my cousins bagged 6. One guy drivin the pick up, one guy with the spot light and two guys shooting. That was a long long time ago,,,lol
I had a city fella tell me one time he would
be scared to death to live out like this. I
told him he is the one with the dope dealer
around the corner and the child molester down
I hate city life give a couple hundres acres and no neighbors
i takes a little getting used to, but once you do ,its a beautiful life.Back in the day we had no tv. so we played cards and dominoes at night.Everyone who lives in the country is very laid back. very little stress...i miss it.
I've been on disability since 03 so really
don't have to worry but we hav a 1/2 acre
pond full of cat fish and my neighbor plows
me a 1 acre gardon every year. I can shoot
deer out the back door or rabbits in the back
yard. I really don't care too much what Obama
does, I'm set upWe have been here since 1986.
We had 40 acres but sold off some, I couldn't
take care of it.
God Bless you bro...
Same to you and yours. I had a fella tell me
I'm very lucky to have this place and I told
him it was just good planing. By the way I,m
500 yds from a 12,000 acre Government lake. I'ts
a Corps of Eng so there will never be any
development around here and I have the Government
on 3 side, NO NEIGHBORS
