Cliff Walsh at (December 2011) Steel Match

Cliff popping steel, guys talked me into entering it. Think it is going to be a regular thing. Next one I'll get someone to get a pic of me shooting for a change. I don't get in front of them by choice, so don't have any but when I took my son to the range once.

anyway...

He was getting ready for the Glock Challenge which starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday night.

I hope to get some of him wining his division or placing well in it.

One of the rooms is an Office with a Futon in it!

Might have a fold out by that time too, seems the new Leather Couch is not holding up to Boomer or my Daughter!

It would be a blast

Get to meet some really good people too. Some are kind of famous or not so much, but all good people.

Heck, Ben flew A6 Intruders into North Vietnam, Ben was Squadron Commander on Enterprise with Stephen Coonts the author of "Flight of the Intruder" in his squadron.

When he talks about flying everyone shuts up and listens, though he doesn't do it that often.

A-6 intruders..

Next time you see Ben ask him if he's ever flown into Sangley Pt out side of Manila.

We usta get some odd planes into Sangley.. Actually saw an old Lancaster one time.. Remember that one so well as it was a WAY cool camo brown, and tan.with a GLOSS Finnish that reflected light like a mirror.. Not sure if this was Aussie or New Zealand.

This is a single strip that was built during WWII.. closed and the Quonset huts reopened during VN.. The strip itself is almost like a carrier.. the tarmac ends in the south china sea.

My one and only experience with an A-6, as they were all carrier planes..group of maybe 5-6 of us sitting on the edge of the strip. which was just a few feet above water line were kicked back, and here comes an A-6 straight at us. maybe 20 feet above the water, this thing was flat screaming ..

Odd sensation as you can't hear anything till it's on top of you.. Amazing.. It popped up at the last moment and kept the same altitude all the way down the strip.. went near verticle,, and disapeared.. Were just looking at each other.. One of the guys says.. i "think" that was an A-6..

A-6's are actually still on Carriers pulling in flight tanker duty and stuff from what I remember.

Ben was actually in the ready room when John McCain's Jaguar blew up on deck of the Forrestal before he was reassigned to Enterprise.

Get tired of the heat though. Also traffic has gone up so much over the last ten years it will drive you up a wall.

When I was building Pool Enclosures I would keep a Frisbee and a Cooler with ice cold beer in it for the times when the highway would turn into a parking lot. Used to meet more women that way...

Lucky

I never even made it around the the Glock match today. Spent all my day shooting the 308's and the SR's.

Charlie picked up an Accuracy International Folding stock 308. We went through 200 rounds through that and 300 through my 308. Shot the 556's for a little bit and also a bolt action CZ 452.

Tell you what, those 452 (22 lr) and the 457 (22 mag) are serious tack drivers.

Pissed off an RO, but he was an asshole to begin with so I really didn't care. He was pissed that I was lobbing .40's out to 100 yards with my 226. Told me I could not shoot my pistol on the rifle range and I pointed at the guy with the TC Contender and another that was shooting a Wildley. So get got quiet and stomped off. Hell all I wanted to do was hit paper, who in hell would try and group using only night sights at that distance?
