Is that not a flare dump? Looks like it's dumping flares that it uses to botch enemy locks. it's a defensive systems used on almost all aircraft. When an enemy locks on with heat seeking ordinance , the targeted aircraft can dump flares. The heat from which confuses the ordinance into chasing the flares instead of the heat from the engines..It is by far one the coolest looking things to see in the air . Plus that cloud behind it looks like black scary ass wings. Nice pic
Ran out of room same time i ran out of memory.. hola troops.. Hope everyones well, sane, and healthy..
Big J, good you drifted back around.. I believe your right on the purpose of those, i've never seen them used for anything but illumination.. willie pete or white phosphorus was more for front line troops than REMF like myself. But they sure make cool flairs.. Three years ago the wife and i did a trip to Idaho, returned down NV 93.. stayed north of Vegas (way north) in a little town of alamo.. Sat on the porch and watched flairs in the WNW sky.. Checked the map before leaving the next morning.. area 51 was directly WNW from our location.. Nothing earthshaking here, flares are pretty common, guess it was just the idea that we were watching something from the area..
Daisy, whats this about snow out your way.. Hate to tell (no i don't) you this, but Tshirt time in the AZ mts..
LLE.. thanks for that informative read on Arnn, it's a shame people of that quality aren't running for Gov. not critiquing it..
Trev.. hope wife and mother-n-law are doing better. Jay.. I got a kick out of the post about the grandfathers police special with the stag grips, i think this is yours (now im wondering if trev's) anyway Whoevers Grandfather it is. I opened the link and it somehow came out in super zoom mode.. must have been about 400%.. but the picture quality was so good that i could make out intricate detail on the piece to include how the blue had worn under the cylinder release.. Really a cool picture, i've never been into stag grips, a bit to "old school" even for me, but the frame to grip fit fit showed they were perfectly made.. very cool ..
a man has to hold his word, hold his beliefs, and hold a good sight picture.
Yeah, it was Trev's.. If you want to see a neat pic of an old Colt police special go to his pic, and it one of the red x deal's you have to open as opposed to a pic.. says something about "grandfathers".. it's worth looking in his pic's and opening.. If it opens on yours as it did mine it's in perfect focus, and BIG poster size image of a beautiful old revolver...
