natural gas from the well??? That seems unlikely since the well head is 5000ft down.
I was wondering that too, are they buring the surface oil?
THey are burning it at multiple spots
For that clarification
they have to riggs out there burning off metane and sulfpher(not sure if I spelled that right) and natural gas have more pics to post and video if I can figure out how to get it to work
Being loaded up now
Why Don't They Blow the Well Shut?
It seems to me a good underwater demolition expert should be able to solve this problem....
would do nothing to stop the oil (except nuclear, theoretically), in fact it would likely make things worse. The use of explosives in blowout situations is strictly for extinguishing the accompanying fires that occur on land and not to seal the well head.
Source: My dad was a geologist so I spent alot of time around drill rigs, even worked on a few as a kid.
Interesting.... I was thinking along the lines of an aircraft fired penetrating missile of torpedo blast system that would destroy the surrounding area and thus seal the well permanently...
Your post sounds pretty accurate, but I think this is possible still, you would just want to not aim directly at the leak.... rather crush the entire well cavatiy...
propose would require a thermonuclear detonation which would fuse the surrounding rock into a sort of glass and the radiation fallout would do as much if not more damage than the leaking oil.
That the Russians suggested the nuke. They claimed to have done so in the past with great success. Did anyone else hear of this?
Vac but I think it took several attempts and they had the benefit of being on dry land, not 5000' under water...LOL
I heard they had detonated offshore. Sure as hell not a -5000 above sea level.
I also heard that an explosion could potentially cause the release of large amounts of gasses, enough to capsize or sink ships.
