I've heard those that complain about Public Lines and rightly so in most instances. But, Po Po is a dysfunctional lot of people in many respects. Firearms use is one of those areas that you would think it could be clear cut for them. But it isn't and many of them can not shoot worth a shit, period.
TG, thats inside Police Pistol...
No sir, he fell into that bullet...
Never argue with a stupid person. They'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!!
We police the range pretty good, everyone watches out for everyone else. But, it's when the Qualifications are taking place, of the Cadets are on the range that it gets flaky. Also there are Home Land Security, Customs and various Armed Security Agencies that show up for Qualifications.
I know we get into shooting, probably what some would consider to the extreme, but. If your profession dictates that there is a possibility of your having to make use of a firearm as a tool and/or you carry one in the performance of your duties. You damn well best wrap your head around the fact that one day you might have to shoot someone and you had best be able to do it with 100 percentage of success in hitting your intended target.
Too many seem to think that hanging a firearm on them is enough, or that the odds are higher that they will never pull a weapon so it really won't make a difference.
Personally and as an Firearms Instructor, I feel that if you own one you should at the minimum sped the time to put 50 rounds a month down range performing basic pistol manipulation and shooting skills.
anyway... opinions, assholes and all that stuff... mine are not any different than anyone else.

I go to an outdoor range at least twice a week, either at lunch or after work (mostly at lunch, just down the street) this time of year, in the spring and summer months I spend my Sundays at "my range" 60 miles out in the desert towards Wendover NV. Out there I am not limited to 100yd shooting, as in all honesty I am a better shot with a rifle than a pistol for all intents and purposes.
I agree with people not knowing what the hell they are doing, some of the indoor ranges in my parts scare the shit out of me, in some cases there is no R.O. and I don't trust my fellow man, motherfucker is liable to shoot me from total lack of discipline, hell, not too long ago some dude shot his kid at a local indoor range as he was putting his gun away, "hot" no less, in a case.....WTF?

were Colt or S&W but anyway. They HAD to pass firearms qual or get fired. Bullets hit everything starting with the benches they were standing at to the Bravo above the butts. I don't think even one failed to pass, very accurate #2 pencils did the scoring.
I thought at 15yds NO ONE could miss the paper, they missed the butts!
Base security police had to qual also, they were fair with their guns but we were immune from on base traffic tickets.
"we", I was bottom rung toilet cleaner upper at the range. I was so low on the ladder there was a lowly shit-bird in charge of me LOL !
Yeah, one of the ranges I go to (Elm Fork, Dallas), is an outdoor range, but the pistol range has concrete going out to the targets. There are railroad tie beams at intervals up top and the sides are steel siding covered walls filled with gravel. How do I know they're filled with gravel? All the bullet holes in them. The concrete has marks where bullets have skidding off and the beams up top are riddled with holes.
I don't pretend to be a great shooter, but my God!, how the hell did these people manage that? I think they are closing their eyes and firing away.
I had read that years ago.. but was skeptical of it.. think Ayoob did a column on it one time.. anyway after a couple decades with DOC, and some shared range time.. NO JOKE.. Obviously theirs the occasional TXLUCKY who clearly is a pro.. so's sortatough.. but the rank and file LE is just a half step better than our Corrections boys and girls.. Just a matter of how they feel about shooting.. some are some aren't.. all most with out exception their not real HOT on civilians being better shooters.. Any of you guys ever try to engage an LE type with questions about his gun.. Out side of work i dont think i've ever had a good conversation with the boys in blue..
a man has to hold his word, hold his beliefs, and hold a good sight picture.
not talk to any neighbors unless it was LE related. He & his wife held their own house warming party when they came to the neighborhood and invited all neighbors. We drank his beer, ate his horse de ovaries and talked with other folk, he stayed with the other cop that was there.
At least his wife was friendly (and a looker) she divorced the ass.
He did not like my g-kids and accused my nephew of getting up at dawn, going down the street and breaking a ladie's storm door, when he said he wanted to talk to the kid I told him no way I'm letting you talk with him 'til you get his parent's permission, they lived on the other side of Oklahoma :<) Anyway, that was the end, he would turn his head away as he drove past my house.
Some real everyday heroes for sure.. but i think we all know that some of those boys have serious attitude problems.. Good and bad in every line of work, or part of our society.. but some of the boys in blue have serious "control" issues.. Put it this way, lots of young men and women use corrections to move into LE.. those that we lost were "lose-able".. Had some serious issues with dealing with Inmates.. Only just a couple i hated to see go..

with non-LE people, just other deputies and Highway Patrol. Funny, I don't remember him EVER saying 2 words to a city cop. When he did it was not pretty.
