HOW SWEET as I set here in front of my fair thinking it's a/c oh will maybe i win the POWER BALL lotto tonight it's @ $180,000.00 then I buy a pool and a real home................TY
I checked the spa Saturday. It's set to 98. Water temp was 119. Have you been to the rim lately? TBH and I are planning another AZ run. Sedona looks like a good base camp for day trips. Is Payson unscathed?
The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth!
I'm thinking about going up to the rim sat morning, camp sat night and return home Sunday evening this weekend. Sedona is a great place for a base camp. It's a beautiful area and is 2 hours or less from Payson, Strawberry, Prescott, Jerome, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon etc... What time of year are you planning on coming? Payson didn't get hit. If you head out of Payson on 260 towards Greer you'll run into the scorched forests after about an hour or so. Everything east of the rim in the White Mountain is in bad shape. Everything on the Coconino forest side of things should be looking good. Sedona had the Oak Creek fire a while back but everything looks pretty good now.

Was there for two weeks and over at the Navajo res at Window Rock a few times over three months.
Drove up from Phoenix through some really sweet country. I was kinda shocked just how much there was to see. Drove through some Canyon ( Gold?) which was wild.
No sir, he fell into that bullet...
Never argue with a stupid person. They'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!!
you must have taken the 60 e out of phx through gold canyon then went north. You can also take the 87 n through payson. Both are pretty cool drives and take about the same amount of time. Up by the casino is sunrise ski resort which is on the res also. I saw a pic a few months ago during the fire that showed the ski mountain untouched but pretty much everything around it was burned up.

I know fire is the way of things and it actually benefits and such for new growth and all. But, it still sucks.
I know I wish I had thought to bring a Camera with me when I made that drive. I actually ended up driving it up and back twice because the Microwave Heads ended up broken in transit. I had to drive to Tempe to get parts to fix them.
John Goldtooth took me out to the reservoir and down through the area they let their cattle roam. I actually saw my first Elk there, it stepped out in front of of about 50 feet in front of us. John told me not to move and I told him not to worry. HUGE, looked like it could stomp me to death and then run him down and stomp him too.

Looking to travel in september. I'm glad to hear Payson didn't get hit, we had little time last year and want to devote a full day out there this trip instead of a drive by.
Thanks for the update.

It should be pretty nice next month. If you head over to Payson for a day, check out Strawberry also. Its just a few miles north on the 87 from Payson but its a pretty cool area. It’s a really small little community but they have a art and souvenir fair on the main drag most weekends. Also the strawberry lodge is a great place form lunch, great pies.
If you’re interested in other day trips from Sedona, check out Jerome and Prescott. Both are pretty interesting. Padre isn’t too far from that area… then obviously you could go north from Sedona to Flag or the canyon.

For truck medical kit. Seriously, not just in case for yourself, but I can see coming across someone who's brain is baking out on the road broke down.
