Grijalva defeated in his bid to make sanctuaries out of Nat'l Parks

American Patrol Report -- September 24
Southern Arizona is known for massive illegal immigration, especially the area surrounding the Santa Cruz River known as the Amnesty Trail.
Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-Az) has fought every effort to control illegal immigration, especially through his district.
His most recent attempt was to designate the area around Amnesty Trail as the Santa Cruz National Heritage Area.
The idea was to impose serious environmental restrictions on the ability of the Border Patrol to do its work.
Yesterday the House of Representatives voted 259 to 167 to amend Grijalva's bill to ensure that nothing about the designation of a National Heritage Area would affect the ability of the Border Patrol to carry out its enforcement duties. Much thanks should go to NumbersUSA for working tirelessly to pass this amendment.
"The defeat of the Grijalva ploy sent an important message that Americans want their border secured," said Glenn Spencer of American Border Patrol. "Now the House must take the next logical step and support the move by the Senate to finish the border fence," he added.
