HK 416- Possible M-16 Replacement

HK 416- Possible M-16 Replacement

While sitting at work last night saw a show on the history channel documenting the history of the M-16. At the end they had a short segment on the HK 416 wich is the front runner for repacing the standered AR/ M16. It is the same general shape and outer working, with a few internal mods. It is more reliable and has a higher rate of fire. It has been put thru the ringer and approved by some of our D groups. If you get a chance check it out I think it's pretty cool.

This weapon is

used by Delta Forces,as well as few select other Spec Ops units.I have been watching this weapon for awhile through it's testing period and would love to get my hands on one to own.As of now HK will not sell public.I did find one for sell at $10,000.I believe paying good money for a good weapon, but my pocketbook is not that good!
This weapon has less fouling issues due to it's piston driven ejection system, which means a cleaner chamber and allows more rounds down range between cleanings.Purely built with harsh enviroment use in mind, with more reliability to boot.

thats the idea behind all of the new piston AR's. I'm sure it will catch on when the prices come down a bit. I think HK is going to release a civilian version of the 416 sometime fairly soon in the $2K-$3K price range. Its a nice rifle! They shouldn't have wasted so much time and $$ on the XM8
