Mr. Allen Swift ( Springfield , MA.) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Picadilly P1 Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928. He drove it up until his death last year.....at the age of 102 !!!
He was the oldest living owner of a car from new. Just thought you'd like to see it. He donated it to a Springfield museum after his death. It has 170,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed and is in perfect cosmetic condition. (82 years) ...That's approximately 2000 miles per year.

it so long but what doesn't surprise me is that a 'roller' would still be running well at 170K.IMO they are the highest quality vehicles ever produced.

2000 miles per year!! Didn't go many places. That's probably part of why he lived so long. I think we are in a hurry and running around too much now a days. That's a cool story, somebody held on to something that long. Most of us today live in a throw away society and have to have the latest and greatest of what's out there. (myself included on some things)

Great story - and certainly a great automobile.
What can be said about the engine? Number of cylinders, displacement, HP, torque, top speed (estimated, perhaps)?

a 7.7L I6 engine with aluminium head begining in 1928.
Here is the Wiki link, they make no mention of the Picadilly roadster variant but with four coach builders involved, I am sure one of them was responsable for the roadster.
