Jayson Blair Invited to Give Keynote Address on JOURNALISTIC ETHICS at College
And modern media mavens and bobbleheads wonder, "what is happening to our industry?"
This. This is what's wrong with your industry, and your souls:
Disgraced New York Times reporter Jayson Blair emerged from media exile here last Friday courtesy of Washington and Lee University. The college that boasts it is "the birthplace of journalism education in the United States" paid arguably the most infamous journalist of the 21st century $3,000 to deliver the keynote address at a journalism ethics seminar.
Hint: Jayson Blair is just a symptom of your industry's illness, and is not the underlying disease.
On a related note, guest lectures on ethics in Harvard University are now being given by...Eliot "Client #9" Spitzer (D).
Because if anyone should be lecturing others on ethics and standards, it's Eliot "I Keep My Socks On" Spitzer (D). And shame on Harvard University - allegedly the world's finest educational institution - for enabling this. For. Shame.
Welcome to Obamanation - up is down, black is white, 10.2% unemployment is "recovery" and unethical and illegal behavior is rewarded at the expense of the ethical.
Nice knowing you, America.
