btw, this is however not a Katana. it is the companion short sword to a Katana call a Wakizashi, which mean, short sword. Katana mean, Killing Sword.
Ryu kun and Gary kun go 1 and 2, and 1 and 2 in the premier events today! Ryu kun win 1st place in the 5.56mm rifle at the 600 meter gallery and Gary kun come in second, but it was very close. In the 7.62mm rifle at the 800 meter gallery tha fight was even tougher, but Gary kun come out on top and he take 1st place. He hit 15 out of 15 with 5 shot on each target. It went down to the last shot, but little brother miss. It was very close to the edge of the black, but he still miss and go 14 out of 15, and he come in second. Ryu kun win on points the overall championship and Gary kun, who is very close friend, come in second place in the overall. A girl move up from 5th place to take the 3rd place trophy on overall points away from that guy tyler that we not like. neeeeeeeeee! d:-) But our family very happy with outcome of tournament. Ryu kun defend his title from last year and so win the overall for the second year in a row!
neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! you thought could slip that one by on ryo and so maybe ryo not notice. you very funny guy samD san. btw, is very nice wakizashi too. in fact very nice and the background for this make it shine so bright neh! ryo appreciate a good background in picture. d:-)
Actually, it's a tanto. A wakizashi is slighty shorter than a katana (really the more modern Uchigatana is what we think of). And the tanto is dagger sized.
These are usually displayed in a mount called Koshirae. The larger katana (Uchigatana), the medium Wakizashi, and the small Tanto. At least the two larger (daisho), frequently all three and up to five (varying sizes of blades prefixed with o- or ko-) were carried by the samurai.
