So, in summary

We can't risk a pipeline for fear of a leak that could contaminate the aquifer, but, we pull most of our domestic oil and gas out from under and through it with a few million straws.

Mr. President, you sir, are an idiot!
Do your job and you wont have to worry about your job!

replenish the O.A., it's supposed to be nothing but ancient water from glaciers. I'm having a hard time, I mean a real hard time believing that but if it's true the pipeline could shatter into a zillion pieces and not a spot of oil would reach the water.
I'd bet the study I read was written by a devout obama lover trying to stop pumping of water out of the aquifer

Actually

Drinking Water is going to be far more Important than Oil over the next 20 years.

Why would they need to pipe the oil that far south to begin with?

I mean, they could pump it across the border, then run it in Trains and Tankers (Semi's) to refineries.

No sir, he fell into that bullet... Never argue with a stupid person. They'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!!

the area

would be one continuious line of semis, they need refineries, thats a big project by itself, then they would need roads, all those semis would destroy the roads pretty quick, then you woulkd need semis to haul dirt and gravel, clean water for the fraccing operation, semis to haul sand and disposal water.I was in North Dakota in November,it's a tractor traffic jam,it would be a big project with a pipeline but the construction would keep moving down, leaving a pipe in place,i say go for it,the Alaskan pipeline seems to be working out.Yeah anybody that wants to experience the gold rush days ought to go to North Dakota, bring a place to sleep with you though.

the Republican river

It seems to me that the environmentalist nazis and the progressives would want to build the pipeline. If it were to burst, it would have the potential to damage the Republican River, not the Democrat river...

that "pipeline" deal.

Clint the Comic..seeesh .. funny tho..

This (to me) is a no brainer.. Eisenhower had the interstates, Kennedy had the Space program,.. In the early seventies (think this was Nixon) we had the Alaska pipeline.

The jobs created by the interstate program fueled our fifties economy, and seems reasonable that we NEED a major project to fuel a turn around in our economy now.

It's Not about who's the end consumer (there's apparently a valid argument that we can't control end buyer after it gets to the gulf) first response to that is the old 'possession is 9/10 of the law, no doubt that we would have the first option on it. on top of this, Canada has already announced that if we don't do this their going to pursue the China market..

Just heard that we import more oil from Canada than the Mideast.. Thats new to me, and i dont think we can let China into the American Canada oil "bidnis" with out consequence..
