Need a SOG

Now you just need a good SOG knife and some tomahawks!

knife throwing..

If you guys remember my post on sharpening.. (that was one GREAT post by the way, and i expect you all to reread it at least bi monthly) I obviously like blades, and i just remembered something i never told you guys..

Around the same time frame that i was sharpening knifes down in Tucson, i got into throwing them as well.. This started as a lark.. just playing around, then as i couldn't do it i got a bit competitive, and one thing led to another.. Yep i wound up buying some throwing knifes..

Our bud Edgar has one. (least close to it) its top left second row over fourth down.. Right across from the kitchen magician all purpose grout scraper and oil filter span wrench thing..

Ok so anyway i spent more free time than any normal person would ever invest doing this till i got to the point that i could stick them each and every time.. I never did get any good levil of accuracy.. As in i couldn't get them to "group" inside 3 ft.. But by golly i could get them to stick.

The whole thing is distance and throwing speed.. consistent speed, (this was the hard part cause you have to throw pretty hard but consistent) then you have to be the same distance away from the target to allow the blade to rotate 540 degrees (1 1/2 revs) Obviously a pro (i spent a LOT of time and never got to "fair") can change the spin and alter distance, but i found the only way to consistently get them to stick was to be like 3-4 yds away and do the 540 thing.

Just another odd thing your pard waisted his youth doing..

Not a wasted youth

getting the wrist flick is hard, plus each blade is different. If you have throwing knives, did you ever get them balanced and weighted? It will help them fly true, and may even improve your accuracy... if you are still tossing around the metal. If not, it is never a waste to learn a skill that rare, but could one day come in extremely handy.

ha ha.. you starting to realize you've stumbled on a gold mine here.. If you notice the same guys that were part of this thread year and half ago or still kick'n around.. Anyway good posts, jump in with any of the old threads.. sometimes looking at the old pics and reading the threads is as close to heaven as you can find in the "bov" ground condition..

re your comments.. that was a fun time.. single, and all the time in the world.. but yeah a lot wasted..I spent hours on that.. sounds like you know something about the subject.. No i never got good enough to spend hi bucks on throwing knifes.. It did get me into sharping tho, and if your interested in knife sharping check out.. lets talk about knife sharping.. go thru off topic or click on the geez and go thru posts..

still like Bill.. and you have to give William Jefferson credit.. blow jobs in the oval office..
ha ha.. if only he hadn't lied about it.. oh and that Democrat thing he'd be a hero..
