I would do some research bauer, Gerber had been slaking for a few years........might be different now, though! Give SOG, and Kershaw a look also, great knives!
I'll keep that in mind.
In Edit: just read reviews on both the steadfat( fixed blade) and Torch II (folder) more good reviews than bad from diffrent sources ( Tactical knives .com, basspro etc) so with my discount I think they will be good for me.
several gerbers folders, very good for daily use IMO,although i like the kershaw and Benchmade as well
Have one of the first ones that came out in a plastic sheath, covered in balistic nylon..Sounds odd but maybe you Gerber guys know the one i have.. Got if for backpacking 4" fixed skelitonized grip all stainless, even with the two sheath deal i think it only weights like 6-7 oz.. anyway great knife.. You could get it in either douible or single edge when i got mine, and opted for the single as its a worker..
I just picked up this LMF II A.S.E.K. Its pretty solid. I don't see any of the past "Gerber Issues" with it. I snatched it up because its on clearance. I just threw it in my bug out bag for a survival knife.
