This bumper sticker may be a little subtle for our readers. I am not criticizing any member's intelligence when I say that--but I believe the importance of this "message" cannot and should not be left to chance. The concept of "diversity", as it applies to our socio-economic well-being, is a creature of the flaming-assed, left wing liberals--who also invented the concept of "affirmative action". Can you imagine a presidential executive order governing HOW U.S. government contractors or government employers must hire and continue to employ "protected class" people? Can you imagine the tortured minds that created this insane utopian scheme? You must hire and continue to employ protected class people, at the rate at which they are represented in each occupation [you use] in your area. If you have not complied with this, you must construct "goals" to reach the required level, by occupation. If you do not make "progress", you are in deep trouble.
Now let's say you met all of your goals. That is not good enough for the Libs. You have to feel guilty for the "sins" of your forebearers, by promising to use all of the talent of all of the protected class employees, along with the non-protected class. The implication is that the protected class employees bring a diverse and creative outlook not heretofore considered by the management [tacitly because of prejudice]. THAT is the concept of "Diversity".
Put it all together as it operated at Ft. Hood, and you see pressure to hire and advance a protected class person, who was KNOWN to be lazy, incompetent, and VERBALLY violative of his oath of office viz-a-viz fidelity to his Country. Good affirmative action statistics, yielded tragic KIA statistics in a non-combat zone. Pardon my sarcasm--another triumph for affirmative action and diversity...........sic transit gloria, USA.
Very well said man...many know this, but yet we still see it daily. I wish you could come see the KBR management team over here...unbelievable.
Did you mean KBR management is unbelievably good or unbelievably not so good?
This gets to the essence of whats wrong with affirmative action. We have all had the experiance of checking a box related to ethnic origin. On a positive note.. I had a great experiance I'll share while sitting on a sergeants oral board one year; The departments procedure was to have the same group of Lieutenants interview all applicants for the Sergeants position, so we spent a week traveling to all 10 prisons and conducting oral boards.
One applicant (a black man) had marked on his form under ethnic origin "should not matter" and had left all the options unchecked.. Due to the structure of the testing its doubtfull he had any idea we were aware of that, and he pretty much knocked it out of the ball park durring the oral exam.. Couple of years later i ran into an officer who had worked for him, (big dumb white boy like myself) i asked the officer what sort of sgt he had become. he says Lt .. I think that sombitch is the best Sergeant ive ever worked for!
as he said.. "It should not matter"
having a real sense of self worth, RATHER THAN a sense of entitlement. I was blessed, both as a section chief on active duty, and as a member of management in my industrial career, to have been able to recognize that kind of personal attribute in selecting all of my troops: minority, and female, as well as those not in a protected class. The most satisfaction is to see them learn, grow and succeed.
