Muay thai kickboxing is not known for speed at all, but actually the shear power that comes from each blow. If the moves happen to be fast its because a dude who IS fast is using them. Muay Thai is called "the science of eight limbs" because the hands, elbows, knees, and legs are used to strike the opponent.

I usually do make sure this is the case... The finger at the ready is a big deal... hers is actually not on the trigger but with the side saddle it is not too clear... I always call people on that so I don't get shot when I am out with them...
I practiced Hung fa yi weng chun, aikdo, and a bit of krav maga... It was always more about actual combat to me than anything else... No longer a soldier = no longer as important now... That and I am not 20 any longer...

I studied Shotokan for a while but the hard moves killed my joints. The discipline always stays though.
