Need I say More?
Very nice pic time to make a stew hmm out of dead thing lol nice rifle
nice job. One less varmint running around
Yep one less. This possum was a mid-sized one. This one weighed 6.6 Pounds and the best weight so far is 14 pounds which I have yet to see one that big. But all in all this is one of the biggest ones I have ever killed.
I have kin folk that tell me possum is good eating. I am too disgusted by the things to consider eating them.
Dont plan on it either. I am a BBQ man.
I dunno, people here in Florida eat them, well Crackers do and a few select others. Mom's side of the family will eat it but I wouldn't myself. Too greasy looking when cooked on the grill as I've seen them cook it.
Possum, Palm Heart, Gator, Snake, Turtle, Tortise, Crawfish, Sea Roaches (in the Lobster family) yeah if it don't move, or doesn't start moving quick enough they pretty much will eat it at least once.
Of course, they grew up eating it and have been eating it forever down here in the back water areas.
I'll do Gator and Mudbugs. That's good eating when done right, of course. I'd probably try snake and turtle too. I'm an open minded eater. lol
But there are some things that I can't bring myself to try. Possum would be one. They just disgust me. Rats too. Of course, if I was truly hungry, anything can be food.
Rat on a stick, Dog (though few places really eat dog)...
They call that lunch!
Shark is very good also when cooked Mexican Style, but you have to be careful with Shark because it is poisonous in some parts from what I've been told.
There is a Restaurant in California that is expensive as hell and only cooks and sells bugs. Watched it on the show Taboo. They paid $$$ and ate nothing but Bugs, and the all time special desert was, drum roll....................... Fried Deaths Head Cockroach! Largest Roach on the planet, everyone ate it and all claimed it tasted like Strawberry Cream. They have been eating the wrong thing thinking they were Strawberries if you ask me...
It tastes like a damn big ass Roach no matter what they claim. Things always taste like something else, well, screw that, people don't eat bugs anymore like they did in cave times because we got tired of it and started killing Cows...
Yeah ate them while riding a motorcycle.....dont think I would order bugs in a resturant though. As for Rats on a stick I would try it....once....maybe.... I hear the rabies make it extra tastey lol!
Id like to try a Snake or a turtle. I hear they taste like chicken. My granny is the master of cookin up stuff that would make anyones hair stand up.
Used to go hunt them up and have a cook out. My cousin used to squat down in front of a rattler and wave one hand in front of it, when it would start to lean back he would snatch it with the other hand behind the head.
My cousin now has two different fingers on his right hand with thetop missing to the first joint.
They bite lol. However have never ate a rattler. Maybe I will hunt one down an shishcabob it over an open flame sometime.
We used to take them over to the College and there was this guy who would buy them and Coral Snakes. They used to milk them for venom and doing studies, but then someone talked about it and the Administrators threw a fit so they stopped buying them. Only allowed to get them and venom through the system...
I was never one to get my hands on them though. Non Poisonous snakes never bothered me though. Not much does really, as long as you respect it your ok, when you start thinking you know everything and have mastered them, then you get in trouble. lol
Just ask Sonny... ha!
Uncle and other cousins run around down in the Glades, doing guide work and other things. Still others up on the Georgia border or out to Sea fishing, Sea going Tugs or Merchant Marines. Mom's family is ok, hard to get along with at times, but over all ok people.
anyway, have to hit the sack, blood work in the morning and then I have to move some more equipment into the shop and see about getting some things ready to ship.
you have a great day and fantastic week Quinn.
PLay nice with others ya hear. Yeah this non-toxic snake has to hit the hay also. Good night gunslot!
