Media Duped by Nobel Prize Prank
Wait, it's not a hoax? Are they serious? Early Friday morning, the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced that Barack Obama would receive a consolation prize for losing out on the 2016 Olympics -- namely the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.

Here in our humble editorial shop, our first reaction was, naturally, to spew coffee on our keyboards. Our second reaction was to wonder, For what? There's been no signing of peace treaties, no ending of wars, no stopping of nuclear proliferation. Obama hasn't stood up for human rights in China, hasn't denounced the oppression of women in the Muslim world, hasn't stared down brutal dictators such as Castro, Chavez, Kim and Ahmadinejad. Again, we ask: For what?

The Nobel Committee explains that it was "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples," and the fact that he has "created a new climate in international politics." Didn't Al Gore get the award two years ago for seeking to stop climate change?

Thorbjoern Jagland, chairman of the Nobel Committee, gushed, "Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future." In other words, it was the Nobel Prize for Narcissism. Unfortunately, the committee did not pass out barf bags prior to the announcement.

Apparently, the fact that the community organizer took up residence in the White House less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline was not as important to the committee as being able to give a slap in the face to his resolute predecessor, George W. Bush. It certainly sends a message against actually winning in Afghanistan.

The president joins other you've-got-to-be-kidding winners Jimmy Carter, who is largely responsible for present-day Iran, Gore, who does nothing but scare people about global warming, and Palestinian terrorist Yasser Arafat, who assumed room temperature in 2004. Obama's win is one more sign that the award has long since jumped the shark.

Blogger Eugene Volokh has started a great list of the "Top Ten Reasons Obama Won the Nobel Peace Prize." Among our favorites are these: "For extraordinary diplomacy at the Gates-Crowley 'Beer Summit'"; and a reader's suggestion, "He was the 10th caller."

Nobel committee sucks

I still think that they were trying to stick it up our asses. The effete majority of Europeans are still thrilled with the election of that jackoff halfbreed. I believe that one big reason that Obama got the "prize" was so that they could make a statement about how happy they were that Bush was no longer in office, & a person they perceive to be in accord with them is now President. Just consider the delighted reaction by the dipshit French president.

to further his communist agenda. It gives his position some "teeth". He can say that "I, Barok Obozo, Nobel Prize winning communist, stands before you today to spread my Nobel Prize winning propaganda to further indoctrinate you and your children into becoming part of the collective..." It is all part of the master plan to rob us of all our liberty.
The best thing we can do is to cut the nuts off of this communist beast and vote out his henchmen in the 2010 election. Then we can work on impeaching this bastard or at the least, making him a one term president.

Communist cocksuckers, the sleeping giant sleeps no more. We are coming for you. And we don't need no stinking Nobel Prize to validate our position. We have got God on our side. What do you have? Is that all? Pshht!

I see why SamD gets so upset with you. If you disagree with me, you have that right. But say something that explains why you do. Give your reasons. This is a forum.

You're still doing it. I don't know if Bluesharp can define communist, socialist or liberal, although I rather imagine that he can, but there's no reason to insult him. I also don't know if you can. If you can, please do so. Also, in reference to Obama & Bush & the "right things", define what you personally mean by the term.

President Obama

should refuse the NPP,thatwould show that he is a stand up guy and not a lacky to be swayed by the NPP board. To many people around the world are watching, wondering what he did or can do.Most think he has done nothing, but by refusing he humbles himself and restores the prestige of the award. Both moves win valuable points for statesmanship.

mentioned, and i can't remember them now,but their names are out there some where. He might make points with the 2 countries you mentioned but he is alienating Israel in the process,so far.I think he micro manages to much so far and he appears to be somewhat indecisive.I don't think he has surrounded himself with good people, what is his Vision,it is not clear to me

I don't at all want Obama to fail. He's the President, elected by the majority (misguided, in my opinion, but nevertheless, the majority). He's in office until 1-20-2013. He's the only President we have. If he fails, our country fails. I don't hate him, but I don't like him and don't respect him. I believe him to be purely an opportunistic politician, out almost exlusively for himself. I might be wrong in this, but that's what I've come to believe from following the campaign of 2008 & his presidency thus far very closely. There are many of his positions with which I disagree, and I hope that he's not able to put these into effect. There are some with which I agree. He is indeed a halfbreed - half black & half white - that's the epitome of a halfbreed. Also, please define communist, socialist & liberal, as I requested. And, please give your opinion as to the "right things" that you referenced.

What's with this Bearmeat person? Why does he want to come on this website? His views on practically everything are diametrically opposed to those of almost everyone else. I tried to get him to rationally explain his point of view so that I could understand where he was coming from, and have a real conversation, rather than him just spewing polemic, but he never did. He called me a racist because of what I said about Obama (that he's a halfbreed - which he is, by definition). I explained to him that I'm not a racist, and why. I got off the website for an hour or so, so my wife could use the internet. When I came back on, all his stuff had been deleted, and he was gone. Not at all a loss, but I wondered who'd done it (and thanks to them).
