Muslim Kids

Muslim Kids

Two Middle Eastern mothers are sitting in a cafe chatting over a plate of tabouli and a pint of goat's milk.

The older of the mothers pulls a bag out of her purse and starts flipping through photos. And they start reminiscing.

'This is my oldest son Mohammed. He would be 24 years old now.'

'Yes, I remember him as a baby' says the other mother cheerfully.

'He's a martyr now though' mum confides.. 'Oh, so sad dear' says the other.

And this is my second son Kalid. He would be 21'

'Oh, I remember him,' says the other happily, 'he had such curly hair when he was born'. 'He's a martyr too' says mum quietly.

'Oh, gracious me ...' Says the other.

'And this is my third son. My baby. My beautiful Achmed. He would be 18, she whispers.

'Yes' says the friend enthusiastically, 'I remember when he first started school' 'He's a martyr also,' says mum, with tears in her eyes.

After a pause and a deep sigh, the second Muslim mother looks wistfully at the photographs and says...

'They blow up so fast, don't they?'

You guys stick with it.
Too late for me. I'm working for a great group of guys though.
Get a civil engineering degree.
Do anything you want when you get past EIT.(engineer in training)
Office, field, both. Whatever, wherever.
look into it.

Before grad school

I was a history teacher. Tough to find jobs. Make sure and get certified in other areas. Never had a problem finding a job once I started teaching chemistry and physics. Of course, at that point I got sick of it, quit my teaching job and went to pharmacy school. I still love history, though. I just didn't like teaching it to a bunch of apathetic teenagers.

I was lucky enough to have Stephen Ambrose teach one of our history classes when he came up for a lecture series back in the '80s. He was very impressive.

Good luck with school. Start now on any and all connections so it will be easier to find a job when you graduate.

One and the same.

He was famous for books on different eras of miltary history. When he lectured us it was concerning the European Theatre during WW II.

Oh man are you lucky

Ambrose and Bruce Catton are the absolute best
All civil war books are written with a northern slant
but these two men try hard to level the playing field
