P-51

Back in the eighties I was flying over Lake Tahoe with a friend in his pop's
Cessna Skyhawk when a P-51 took off out of the South Lake Tahoe airport and
you could hear the roar of the engine about half a mile out, it was awesome.

No Snake, that is an F15 Eagle. The F14 Tomcat has variable swept wings. The F15 has fixed wings. The F14 has 2 tails that are not vertical, the F15 has 2 tail that are 90 degrees.
Also, I am extrapolating here, but these are all Airforce planes, the F14 is Navy.
