I checked on Centerfire and they actually have a 6.8 SPC listed for under $800.00. TO grab and shoot that isn't a bad starting place. Though I would call and ask for who makes the parts used and such.

you like the 6.8?was thinking that or grendel,or even one of the new wssm cartriges for hunting fun.my dad really likes the beowulf, and so he keeps pushing me to do one of those next, but the range is pretty short(300?) i think.not thats thats so bad,but its also expensive to shoot, and requires extensive modification to the upper.i kinda like the grendel for its looooong distance ability(for fun not hunting) and you can use 7.62x39 brass to make grendel brass so it can be reloaded cheaper.ive seen pics and vids of people killing elk and deer with grendel.6.8 is also cool though,at shorter distances it devestates pigs and deer too.havent heard too much about the wssms yet,but the balistics seem to look good for them.guess there is quite a bit of mods to the upper for that family too.decisions decisions...

nicely done

what kind of hand guard do you have?

Reaper says- 6.8 SPC for under 300M, 6.5 Grendel for 300M+, but I'm wrong 70% of the time.

Pretty much depends on what your using the rifle for I would think. I'd probably turn the 6.8 into a CQB to mid range SHTF weapon I could use here in Florida in the brush and swamps. For actual all around one gun does all I would do the 6.5 or the 338 Federal, 100 yards and out gets dinked and stays dinked.

my 223 is for fun and

my 223 is for fun and predators, want somthing a little bigger to prove to all the libs that these things have a "sporting" use for hunting deer/pig,or maybe even bear.basicly lookin for a good deer/pig gun next i think.ill build a beowulf too one day im sure.deer around here are usualy either verry close, under 100yds,or out a way at 300+ pigs are about 300+ allot also.dont know the 338 federal.ill have to go look into it.

handguard

i have an american spirit arms handguard a buddy gave me when he got his vltor.looks like this, but longer

american spirit arms
a buddy of mine built a 9mm dedicated ar15 asa upper.he gave me the freefloat handguard.looks just like this but rifle length. ive been wanting one for my ar project,(just been using a standard black m4 that dosnt mach my fde magpul stock and grip)and he likes vltor guards so i got a freebee.just gota get a picitini rail installed, backup sights, low pro gas block, and get a scope n my project is done.anyone know this company?i found some rails that seem exactly like what i need from yhm for their freefloat tubes for aprox $35 for 12" seems like they will work with minor gunsmithing.[nodeinsert nid=76744 size=full]anyone know of a better price for a rail that may work,or a rail blank?
was gona add a rail for backup sights, but maybe ill just use it on my next build and get a different 4 rail handguard (midwest or yhm)maybe.
