Hampster I have always wanted one of those, how much are they now running?
It was $175 shipping inc. I got it from dixie gun works, the local sportsmans whse has them also but they wanted closer to 2bills so I decided to wait.
It took a little dremmel work to get everything to fit correctly, the trigger guards never fit right on these things. The brass was kinda rough so it took some time to polish it up but all in all it is a good quality kit for the price, the kit is by traditions by the way. As with any gun, the sky is the limit as far as how much you want to spend, I am a cheap bastard so I bought the lesser kit.
I plan on shooting it a bit but it is mostly for decoration, I always had a thing for black powder, I am really tempted by those cannon that CharlesW has been posting lately... there goes the neighborhood...lol
cylinder today. Your right, there goes the neighbor hood.
It will be a cannon barrel in a week.
Now I need to find some course black powder
"Course" is something you run on or a bunch of drugs you gotta take.
yeah, yeah, "pedantic." Fuck it.
I spent all my money helping my daughter get a PHD
and besides I suffered a brain injury when an 18
wheeler broad sided me
One daughter thats a CPA, but no 18 wheel excuse for this boy .... Actually back in the 50's my local school implimented a phonetic spelling program that i have since found out only lasted for a couple of years.. Guess this was the "darling" of educators nation wide till they found out it didn't work, and im really not making an excuse, just stating a fact.. Greg spells worse than dog shit.. I have a sorta internal clock that tells me when we have enough new members to post some type of disclaimer re: my spelling.. Thank the good Lord for spell check, on most units i worked supervisors shared the same office, and while i could type out a report as fast as any of my bretheren, it usually took about twice as long to get it thru spell check.. Had one witt Sgt who told me one time my spell check should only be deleted by the haz matt crew..
are you still here ???
The next post "should" be a pic of a J K and L frame S&W ..and targets to match.. sitting down again so back is gona give me another couple of min.. heeerrr weeee gooooo..
It should be a "double" barrell, can you cut it in half????
I have all of the tools, tourch, sawzall..etc....lol
too much bang for your buck
Cannon is my next foray, bigger is better..right??
cannon web sites you will find some instructions
on how to build one
but welded a chain to each cannon ball.
They never could get them both to fire at the same
time and killed a lot of cannoneers
The black powder is un- predictable, there is always a delay, nature of the beast as it were.
"Grape shot" wasn't that what they called it?
"Grape shot" was what took down many a mast on sailing ships.
Serving on a cannon crew reenacting the civil war.
I know how dangerous that stuff is
Then we will "rock that cannon" I am looking forward to it.
Thanks I think I'll order me one as well.
The trigger is VERY sloppy, I will soon take it all apart and remedy that, kinda spooky, I like a tight action.......not what I have now, nobody is firing that gun until I get that sorted out.
Concealed carry, right? IWB, I suppose. Do you ever plan to sit down?
At least it's not a flintlock.
Sort of reminds me of a friend I had years ago. He was a stocky, muscular guy about 5'2" tall. His favorite handgun was a 10" Ruger Super Blackhawk, which he carried in a belt holster. When he'd draw it, his elbow was up above his shoulder by the time the barrel cleared leather! He could shoot it pretty well, though, so I never kidded him about it.
You know as well as I do that this pistol is about the length of a short rifle.
When I sit down, I will do so with a straight leg ha ha ha,I wish my other pistol was that long.
Nope, no flintlock, I am a modern kinda guy....lol
What is it guy...45 or what... tell us about it..
50 cal, 1/2" ball.
you have a pm
Before Lucky kids me about getting all "emo"... im sorta hurt'n, just took some pic's.. Been trip'n over my range stuff, and the weathers been worse and worse, so thought i would take some pics of the pistols, targets, etc. managed to really mess up the old back.. whine, whine, whine... Sheesh..
Anyway 1) back at ya greas.. 2) Hamp ive been trying to find the knife that my pop put together.. Brother and i bought him a 45 rifle from dixie.. maybe diffrent mfg. but man it came out slick, and he didn't have to do any work on it.. Never shot it, just a wall hanger, and really cool one. He did a bowie knife at the same time, that came out just as well.. matching brass bolsters, imagine its still in thier cattalog.. Now if you guys will hold on i'll throw (yeah right) that pic up..
Wife says if you want to try to got to NM this summer we
can probably do it and any others who can come are
welcome. We can still have another meet in 2011.
Hell just make it an annual
Be sure to tell me when you get your cannon built so I know when to leave town. Nice looking gun.
Don't worry, cannon is not in my budget, plus it wont fit in my Subaru...bummer!
I can haul it in my 92 Ford F150 but poor old
Ford stays close to home now with 180,000
miles although she still runs good
4 attackers 1 shot.......2 minutes plus reload time.....
I guess I will stick with my P-89 for CCW.
sharpshooters in the civil war (war between the states)
were known to have fired 4 to 6 times in ONE minute.
YEAH WOW lol I've done 3 when I was set up for it
