it is a marlin glenfield model 20 .22 rifle.I mounted a 6.5-24x50 Tasco on it for fun.
my new rifle is nicer than yours!and cheaper too!won it on gunbroker for a dollar and 15 dollars shipping!this thing is in mint condish.not bad for a almost 30 yr old rifle

That scope is the bomb. You can probably knock a squirrels ass off with that thing. I knew a guy with a similar rig that would shoot woodpeckers in the back of the head and try to drive their beaks into the tree and leave them hanging there. I saw him do it...no lie.
The stock looks really great. Since it's 30 years old, it's walnut, isn't it? Hard to believe that they'd put such nice wood on a Glenfield. My Marlin 25 has a really crappy looking piece of some nameless "hardwood". Shoots fine, but looks awful. I'm going to strip it & seal it, then refinish it with a black urethane. Like you said, that scope is pretty wild on that rifle!
the stock is walnut finished hardwood.this gun is factory original.for an interesting stock finish try truck bed liner.durable, black and available in a spray can.

is probably birch, same with this one.real blond colored when you strip them.they look nice in a natural finish.

It's a fine looking stock, whatever it is. The factory did a great job on it. I agree that mine probably is birch. I'll get a can of truck bed liner, apply it to another piece of wood & see how it comes out. Thanks for the suggestion. I was a paint chemist for a long time & have used 2-component urethanes on stocks before, as well as on solid body guitars & basses. You have to have a pretty decent spray setup to do it well, though, which might be a problem for me now. When I worked for paint companies that was no problem, since we had multiple spray booths & lots of free (for me) raw materials out of which to make the finish. I used to put clear urethanes on the backs of guitar & bass necks, which protected them from impact plus making them extremely smooth & slick so you could slide your hand up & down the neck very easily.
you definitly know your finishes then.most people think you use stain.not on a rifle stock you dont, but you got it covered!

the guy had it in the penny auctions with no reserve.the only other bid was 50 cents.

Its nice i will give you that. However I am not gonna say which one is best just by looks. Only way is to pit them one on one and see which is the best. But like I said its nice and kinda resembles my marlin in some ways.

rabbit, grouse, deer if their close enough.paper, aluminum cans(but they arent real chewy).but seriously, mainly targets and small critters.mainly just fun to break clay birds at 50 yards with the 24 power scope.in my house,if i have a scope on a rifle my kids wont try to talk me out of it.so i walked in the house and stuck this scope and rings on it so i could still call it mine.now my wife is eye balling it.sonofabitch!i just cant have anything for myself!

So whats the true value of said rifle mike? I am guessing in the are of my marlin around 129.00 for that old of a .22 but maybe up a little more than mine possbliy as well like 175.00 at most.
