The pistol grip turns it into a illegal firearm. I have it but the gunsmith at Buffalo Gun Center said not to put it on. We still have the assault weapons ban here. The 'sporterized' version is legal, the pistol grip turns it. I need to get the stock pinned, change the trigger to a US version, replace the gas piston and then add the pistol grip.
Now if the gun is made before NYS made the Federal Assault weapons ban sunset date, you are legal. If the gun was made before 1993 you can have a pistol grip, bayonette lug, colapsable stock whatever but- the parts must be American made. Confused yet? It gets better- if the gun was made before 1980- do worry about anything.
Also, you must prove dates and serial numbers, parts origin.....what the fuck
I am just anoyed with hard to follow regulations here. I am trying to be compliant and its difficult. The gunsmith had to get on the internet just to figure out when the gun was made by serial number. Do you think the criminals jump through these hoops?
