Navy Corpsmen (Pecker Checkers)

Navy Corpsmen (Pecker Checkers)

Milblogger Herschel Smith at Captain’s Journal pays tribute. Read the whole thing. He concludes:

“Navy Corpsmen are worth their weight in gold, and even if the Commander in Chief isn’t smart enough to know how to pronounce their billet, we have the utmost respect for them.”

Amen.

I always prefered Navy Corpsmen to Dr's when I needed care. They know their shit and don't have the Dr's prissy-assed attitude of "I know best". Beside that, Corpsmen were best at giving shots, better than any A.F. or Army medics I had to deal with. If you needed your appendix out and no Dr's were around they'd be glad to cut your guts out :<) Er, I mean appendix...

With no experience doing anything but agitating, voting present and using drugs...a big embarassment to all Americans.

I saw how woefully untrained our army medics are compared to navy corpsmen. Those guys attached to marine units carried things in their aid bags that army PA's weren't authorized to administer. If I am ever hit, I really hope that if I can't have an SF medic sergeant nearby, then there is a corpsman there.

corpsmen to major big city hospitals to work in trauma units dealing with knife and gunshot wounds?
They're getting that experience before they deploy to the battlefields in Af'stan

Love those guys (Not in a queer way!)

Kinda like Boatswains Mate (Bo'suns) Boats for short. Most are very professional.
Hey, stop laughing, get up off the floor. When they were not blind drunk in a whorehouse they were very professional.
