Brave young man. These hurt.
You can see Mom's arm supporting him. I know were all thinking about that lost hero, who gave his life in an effort to keep us safe.. It's a pretty special Mom who realized that with out a Dad (well that statement hit me) that young man would have to mature pretty quick..That she let him accept his Dads flag tells me hes going to be fine..
Can you imagine how proud his Dad is.. It's not easy to lose a parent at any age, but i think were looking at about the worst.. Just old enough to understand what it all means, but young enough to still NEED his Dad.. It will be hard but im guessing the boy will be fine.
I don't want to overdue the whole "unofficial Chaplain" thing but Sam sent me a pm (per my request) stating i was just that.. and requesting a prayer for the troops.. no better time or image to put this up..
Lord.. We ask that you bless and protect those who are risking, and giving there lifes for us. We pray you might hold them in the palm of your hands, bring them all home safe, give their families courage, and be with those who are in pain like those in this picture... Amen
Brothers, guys, can i ask ya all not to respond to my comments.. this whole "chaplain" thing is uncharted water.. i will do a post on it right now so save thoughts till then please..I think were all on the same page..we do things out in the open. fill you guys in..you can comment and or send Sam a pm about how you feel and if its good or bad for the house.. BUT none of us want this image spoiled with comments about anything BUT the fallen troop, and his son and wife..
This young man will grow to to make his mother proud. He will do some things, or say some things, throughout his life that will remind him and his Mother of his Dad.
I lost my Dad about 22 years ago. Sometimes I do something, or I'll say something, that my Dad would say or do. My Dad lives in me. I am a part of him. At times, just the way I stand I'll think, damn,____ that's just like Dad. The things he will do, She will see, in him, her Husband, .
This young man will experence the same, I promise.
greg az, I have never read a finer Prayer
Wow. Reminds me when I was 8, my father passed when I was 8 years old and they gave us his flag. Still have it to this day. All I know is at that age you dont know what to do or think, its all surreal, at that age you think its all a dream and you have no idea what to do. They tell you that you are the man of the house...but they dont tell you how to be the man of the house, or how to do it properly. Its never a good thing to see this image. Thats why prayer is a good and important thing. A moment of silence for our fallen troops and officers.....
